Beerus joins Dragon Ball FighterZ in a character trailer for the new game. As the God of Destruction, Beerus is easily the most powerful character on the game's current roster. Beerus is the third character to receive a trailer this week, following the reveal of Goku Black on Monday and Hit on Wednesday. Bandai Namco is hyping up the new game in anticipation of its release near the end of the month.
Announced in June of 2017 and developed by Arc System Works, Bandai Namco's Dragon Ball FighterZ presents players with a 2.5D fighting game modeled after early installments of the popular Marvel vs. Capcom franchise. The 3 vs. 3 tag battle system allows fans to assemble teams of their favorite heroes and villains, including Goku, Vegeta, and Piccolo. Unlike past video game adaptations of the anime, FighterZ will give gamers a completely original story, along with an all-new character called Android 21.
Bandai Namco has released a character trailer for Beerus, which shows the God of Destruction in action as he engages in a pitched battle with Goku. In true Beerus fashion, the lazy god enters the fray by standing at the side of his bodyguard Whis and yawning. Fans get to watch Beerus unleash numerous energy attacks and melee combos, indicating that Beerus will have the playstyle of a balanced fighter. Beerus also blasts Goku with one of his most powerful techniques, "Creation Before Destruction", which involves a sun-like ball of energy. The move was first seen in the film that introduced Beerus, Dragon Ball Z: Battle of the Gods.
Beerus is one of a handful of newer characters appearing in FighterZ. Like Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Super Saiyan Blue Vegeta, Beerus debuted in a Dragon Ball movie before being adapted to the new series, Dragon Ball Super. In the anime, Beerus is portrayed as an arrogant and lazy god with an appetite that rivals Goku's. Vastly superior to the other characters in power, Beerus is so fearsome that even the proud Vegeta was terrified of him.
Prior to the game's release, fans can play as Beerus in the second open beta test which begins Sunday and ends on Tuesday. The beta is only available on the Xbox One and Playstation 4 versions. Beerus is one of 11 characters playable in the beta.
Dragon Ball FighterZ launches January 26th for the Playstation 4, the Xbox One, and the PC via Steam.
