Warning: This article contains spoilers for Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.
The new Dragon Ball Super film titled "Super Hero" hit U.S. theaters on August 19th. Dragon Ball fans of all ages have flocked to the theaters to see their favorite characters in action once more. Already, the film has performed remarkably well, with it being number one at the box office during its opening weekend.
In this movie, fans see Gohan and Piccolo take the lead as they team up once more against the evil Red Ribbon Army. It's been a while since they've teamed up, however, but they have always been one of many fans' favorite duos in Dragon Ball.
Raditz
Before Gohan was trained by Piccolo and effectively fights by his side, he offered quite a bit of aid to Goku and Vegeta in their fight against Raditz without his knowledge. The biggest drawback in the battle against Raditz was Goku's naivety in believing Raditz's lies.
While this made the opportunity of Piccolo's Special Beam Cannon slip, Gohan was able to injure Raditz and allow Goku to grab him. This did see the death of Goku too, but without Gohan's aid, they never would have been able to defeat the Saiyan.
Nappa
Thanks to Piccolo's training, Gohan's power increased dramatically. But while he was indeed a stronger fighter, he lacked the confidence to go with it. This was abundantly clear in the battle against one of the Saiyan Saga's strongest characters, Nappa.
Through a battle where men were dying left and right, Gohan finally summoned the courage to fight alongside the others and became a helpful asset to Piccolo and Krillin. In the end, even Gohan's confidence wasn't enough to overcome the Saiyan. Piccolo sacrificed his life for Gohan, giving fans a new glimpse into his character and the beginning of a long friendship.
Frieza
The battle against Frieza was long and fierce, but it was also in this fight that Piccolo returned to Gohan's side. He joined alongside him and the others, fighting against the powerful Emperor.
Piccolo landed powerful blows on Frieza in his second form, and Gohan even managed to perform admirably against him in his third form. In the end, they were all able to push Frieza backward into his final form. But it was here they met their match.
Garlic Jr.
Though Garlic Jr's return to Dragon Ball Z was filler, it was a significant arc for Gohan that showed Earth's fighters could handle their own without Goku. With Piccolo backing him, the two of them were able to fight on against Garlic Jr. in his impressive super form.
With the confidence Piccolo placed in him to propel him forward, Gohan was able to destroy the Makyo Star and seal Garlic Jr. back into the Dead Zone where he would wander for eternity.
Frieza's Men

In the Dragon Ball Z film Resurrection 'F' fans see Gohan and Piccolo team up once more as they combat Frieza's men. The two of them blaze through each soldier with incredible animation that proves Earth's fighters are superior.
These quick strikes and fights also remind fans why Dragon Ball is one of the best Martial Arts anime. The same can be said when they face off against Shisami. Piccolo fights this warrior, struggling, but before he can go all-out, Gohan takes care of him with a single punch in his Super Saiyan form.
Goku and Tien
Preparing for the Tournament of Power, four of Universe 7's team decide to have a tag team battle. This involved Gohan and Piccolo fighting off against Goku and Tien.
Both Gohan and Piccolo performed admirably against the two of them, with Gohan showing incredible improvement in that he could match power with Goku even in his Super Saiyan Blue form. Piccolo and Tien fell behind, but both of them still lent great support to their teammates.
Saonel and Pilina
One of the toughest fights Gohan and Piccolo faced that showed why the two of them are one of Dragon Ball's best duos was against Universe 6's Namekians, Saonel and Pilina.
Piccolo facing off against other Namekians in the Tournament of Power had been one of the most anticipated moments, and it proved to be fantastic as he fought alongside Gohan. While it was a heartbreaking battle, learning that the two of them had fused with their entire race, Gohan and Piccolo had to press on and defeat them for their universe.
Seven-Three
Seven-Three possessed one of the most unique abilities in Dragon Ball. By stealing the strength and techniques of Gohan and Piccolo, as well as others, he became an incredibly dangerous foe.
Despite this, Gohan and Piccolo were able to perform some of the best combos on this character together. Because of how much they fought against Seven-Three, many fans were disappointed that they weren't the ones to finish him off.
Gamma 1 and Gamma 2
Four of the strongest characters in Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero face off against each other in an epic battle in the new film. Gamma 1 and Gohan face off in a close fight until Gohan unlocks his Potential Unleashed once more.
While Piccolo awakens a brand-new form he names Orange Piccolo, and while Gohan gains the advantage over Gamma 1 near the end of their battle, Piccolo completely overwhelms Gamma 2 in his new form.
Cell Max
The final battle against Cell Max is fierce and terrifying, pitting Gohan and Piccolo, as well as the others, against the new version of Cell. No one else is able to keep up with Cell quite like Piccolo does, and after nearly dying, he helps awaken Gohan's inner strength and unlock his new form called Beast Gohan.
With Piccolo struggling with all of his might to keep Cell down and Gohan flashing a powerful Special Beam Cannon, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero gives fans one of the best Gohan and Piccolo team-ups of all time.
