BioWare has revealed that the title of the next Dragon Age game is Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, cementing the idea that Solas will be the villain in this new story. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf will be taking the Dragon Age series to the Tevinter Imperium, during a time when the region is being invaded by the Qunari.

The fourth entry in the Dragon Age series was announced during The Game Awards 2018, with a trailer that seemed to be setting up Solas as a villain of the game. There have been a number of behind-the-scenes rumors regarding Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, especially in regards to development shake-ups caused by the failure of titles like Anthem and Mass Effect: Andromeda. These rumors included the game being transformed into a live-service title, though this no longer appears to be the case, as the game has shifted to a single-player experience.

There have been hints at the content in the new Dragon Age game in official materials released over the past few years, and fans now have even more information to speculate about. The official Dragon Age Twitter account has officially announced that the title of the next Dragon Age game is Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, which was leaked not long before the reveal. The game has been referred to as Dragon Age 4 up to this point, but Dragon Age: Inquisition dropped the numbered sequel naming scheme already, so it makes sense for the new game to also use a subtitle.

The official BioWare Blog has some more information about the game. The title refers to Solas, who was a major figure in Dragon Age: Inquisition, as well as a lot of the spin-off media that has been released since. Despite Solas' prominent role in the storyDragon Age: Dreadwolf will still be accessible to new players. Dragon Age: Dreadwolf definitely won't be released in 2022, but fans should expect more news soon.

The Summer season of game reveals is about to kick off with the Sony State of Play event, and there are several events coming up where BioWare can show off Dragon Age: Dreadwolf, such as the Summer Games Fest. It's also possible that there could be a repeat of 2018 and the next major reveal happens during The Game Awards at the end of the year. Dragon Age fans have waited a long time for news about the next entry in the series, and it seems that Dragon Age: Dreadwolf could be a 2023 title, joining the likes of Starfield and the sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, in what's promising to be a huge year for gaming.
