Here's every upcoming Dracula movie, including the eagerly awaited Renfield. Dracula is probably the most famous monster in all of pop culture, with the Bram Stoker novel and its many subsequent cinematic adaptations making him iconic the world over. Dracula has had many famous portrayals too, from Bela Lugosi to Christopher Lee (who played Dracula in ten movies) and Gary Oldman. He's a character who gets reinvented constantly, from appearing in R-rated horror movies to child-friendly outings like the Hotel Transylvania franchise.

Stoker's Dracula has been told and retold so often that filmmakers are always challenged to come up with new angles on the story. That might be one reason the Count has been largely absent on the big screen in recent times. Absence makes the heart grow fonder, of course, and there are many Dracula-themed movies on the horizon for fans to look forward to.

In keeping with Dracula's shape-shifting nature, these upcoming projects span different genres.

Dracula Is Making A Major Big Screen Comeback

From sci-fi Western to horror-comedy and a good, old-fashioned monster movie, there's a Dracula for every mood.

The Invitation - 26 August 2022

Nathalie Emmanuel looking shocked as Evie in The Invitation trailer

Originally titled The Bride, The Invitation is fronted by F9's Nathalie Emmanuel as a woman invited to a mysterious wedding at a Gothic mansion, which is soon revealed to be run by vampires. The movie looks like a combination of The Brides Of Dracula and Ready Or Not, and while it's confirmed the character of Jonathan Harker will appear, it's unknown if Dracula himself will make a cameo. While the movie looks intriguing, much of the mystery it was teasing was already spoiled by its own trailer.

The Last Voyage Of The Demeter - 27 January 2023

The Last Voyage of the Demeter

The next upcoming Dracula movie is The Last Voyage Of The Demeter which is based on "The Captain's Log" chapter from the original novel. The movie will chart the grim fate that meets the crew of the titular ship, which is transporting Dracula in its cargo. Directors like Neil Marshall and 30 Days Of Night's David Slade were previously attached, but André Øvredal - helmer of witch horror The Autopsy Of Jane Doe - is now captaining this particular ship. Dracula himself will be played by Javier Botet, known for Conjuring 2's Crooked Man and the title monster in 2013's Mama. Hopefully, the decade-long wait for The Last Voyage Of The Demeter will prove to be worth it.

Renfield - April 14, 2023

Renfield Wrap

Arguably the most exciting upcoming Dracula movie, simply because of who's playing the monster. Renfield is a horror-comedy revolving around the title henchman (played by Nicholas Hoult) to the Count, who decides to leave his boss after falling in love. Renfield is based on a pitch by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, who has promised it will retain his trademark flair for gruesome violence. The movie also cast Nicolas Cage as Dracula, in what promises to be one of the most unique iterations of the character ever seen.

Chloe Zhao's Sci-Fi/Western Dracula - TBA

Chloe Zhao Directing Eternals

The most mysterious upcoming Dracula movie is from Eternals helmer Chloe Zhao. The film - just like Renfield and The Last Voyage Of The Demeter - will be coming from Universal, and has been described as a "sci-fi/Western" adventure. Sadly, no casting has been announced, nor does the project have a planned release date. Zhao has stated she's fascinated by the concept of immortality, which she also explored in Eternals, and the mash-up of genres alone should indicate her Dracula project will explore some fresh ground.
