Controversial streamer Dr Disrespect made a brief, accidental appearance on Twitch the other day, the first since his big ban last summer. Dr Disrespect was banned from Twitch for no stated reason last year, prompting questions of serious legal issues. Although nothing was ever confirmed, the controversial streamer moved to YouTube after a prolonged period of silence.

To this day, it's still not known why Doc was banned. That said, Call of Duty actor Jeff Leach suggested that Dr Disrespect was reportedly banned for betraying Twitch in contract negotiations. Although these are just rumors, Dr Disrespect reportedly tried to haggle more money out of Twitch by claiming that Mixer was offering him a more lucrative deal. Unfortunately, around this time, Mixer shut down, and obviously, the Microsoft-owned streaming platform wouldn't be attempting to make deals if it was preparing to close its doors. Twitch put two and two together and allegedly banned him permanently for the matter.

Doc's absence from the platform hasn't impacted him too much, since he is still successful over on YouTube, but it has put other streamers on edge. Streamers are not allowed to play with Doc on stream and TimTheTatMan hinted that he can't play with Dr Disrespect off-stream either. Needless to say, Twitch wants nothing to do with Doc. That said, Doc did appear in an ad for Mountain Dew Game Fuel on a recent BoomTV Twitch stream, causing the chat to become incredibly confused (via Dexerto). “It was an honest mistake,” said a spokesperson for BoomTV. “We proactively reached out to Twitch to inform them about the mistake.”

Dr Disrespect

Featuring Dr Disrespect to tons of viewers is likely against Twitch's rules in some way, shape, or form, but no action has been taken against BoomTV. A viewer also clipped the moment out and it's still available on Twitch, which is pretty surprising, since one might expect the Amazon-owned service to swiftly take it down.

Dr Disrespect was memorialized via a GTA RP character, but since it's not the Doc himself, it's probably ok in Twitch's book. Whether or not Dr Disrespect will ever be able to make amends with Twitch and return to the platform is unknown, but it seems likely that this brief mistake from BoomTV will be one of the only appearances from the controversial streamer on the platform for a while. For now, Dr Disrespect continues to thrive over on YouTube.
