Peacock renews Dr. Death for season 2. Based on the actual events highlighted in journalist Laura Beil’s Wondery podcast, Dr. Death season 1 debuted last July on Peacock. Starring Joshua Jackson as Dr. Christopher Duntsch, a charming surgeon who uses his neurosurgery practice to mutilate and murder his patients, the first season of Dr. Death fared well with true-crime enthusiasts. Also starring Alec Baldwin, Christian Slater, Grace Gummer and AnnaSophia Robb, the medical drama quickly became a success for Peacock.

Now, Dr. Death is about to examine another case. Per Variety, Dr. Death has been renewed for a sophomore season at Peacock. Created by Patrick Macmanus, the show will switch to an anthology format and focus on a new medical true crime story each season. Dr. Death season 2 will highlight the events surrounding Dr. Paolo Macchiarini, who earned the nickname "Miracle Man." In Dr. Death season 2, Paolo's deadly secrets are uncovered by investigative journalist Benita Alexander after she approaches him for a story.

At this time, Peacock has yet to announce the cast list and release date for Dr. Death season 2. The new installment of Dr. Death will continue to focus on the reports from Beil's podcast, which is currently in its third season. Helmed by new showrunner Ashley Michel Hoban (of Hulu's The Girl from Plainville), Dr. Death season 2 will unpack the sordid events of the surgeon who was hailed as a pioneer in regenerative medicine but ends up being a lethal manipulator. Chronicling the harrowing true tales of medical practitioners who become bone-chilling criminals, Dr. Death is officially on the way for another season on Peacock.
