The pilot for DC Universe's upcoming series Doom Patrol is complete and has screened for members of the TV show cast, according to star Joivan Wade. This is only one of many TV shows that Warner Bros. has lined up for the streaming platform. Seeds for the live-action series were planted during an episode of Titans, and it seems the upcoming spinoff will live up to its source material from the 1960s, as the titular team has already been considered the best thing to come out of the Titans series.
Doom Patrol will be a modern take on one of DC's most beloved factions of outcasts. First introduced in June 1963, the Doom Patrol were referred to as "The World's Strangest Heroes," made up of individuals who had gained powers through tragic accidents. The Titans spinoff will launch on DC Universe in February of 2019 and will become the second live-action original show for the platform. DC has completed casting for the series, and some star power talent has been brought in to fill the major roles.

Joivan Wade, star of The First Purge, took to Twitter to share that the Doom Patrol pilot was done. Wade is set to star in the series as the half-human, half-machine hero, Cyborg. Over the weekend, Wade posted a picture of a screening taking place for the episode, though it seems only those involved with the project were there. And, since it was a very exclusive gathering, there has been no word on details regarding the upcoming pilot. Wade posted the following over the weekend:
The original 1960s iteration of the team was penned by Arnold Drake and Bob Haney. Over the years the titular team has endured multiple incarnations, and the group has always been comprised of individuals who have gone through life-altering events resulting in catastrophic effects on their bodies and minds. The upcoming DC Universe original will include most of the original line-up: Robotman, Crazy Jane, Negative Man, Elasti-Woman, and The Chief. Aside from Wade, Doom Patrol's cast includes Matt Bomer, April Bowlby, Brendan Fraser, Timothy Dalton, Diane Guerrero, Riley Shanahan, and Matthew Zuk.
Fans of the DC Universe have something to look forward to as the new year approaches. The season finale for Titans is right around the corner, but DC fans will have a new group of misfits to become invested in once Doom Patrol premieres on the streaming service. While no plot information has been released in regards to the pilot, it will certainly be in everyone's best interest to stay alert for the next few weeks, as a first look at the upcoming live-action series can arrive online at any moment.
