The official social media account for Doom Patrol trolls Marvel Studios after DC FanDome. Over the weekend, Warner Bros. successfully executed their own virtual convention after skipping this year's San Diego Comic-Con @ Home. The whole event was on-time, organized, and packed with a lot of fun surprises for fans, effectively making it the gold standard for online gatherings for studios. Given this, some MCU fans can't help but wonder if Kevin Feige and his team is also cooking something for their base.

Originally set to be a one-day affair, DC FanDome was eventually split into two parts — the first half that took place last Saturday was primarily focused on the brand's big-screen projects, while the next one scheduled for September will go in-depth with its TV shows. Just like a typical convention, the cast and crew join their respective projects' panels to discuss what fans can expect from their films with some of them ending with a special clip — either a trailer like with Wonder Woman 1984 and The Batman or a behind-the-scenes clip like with The Suicide Squad. Nevertheless, the convention went through without any hiccups, which is impressive.

The success of DC FanDome has caused some Marvel loyalists to hope that somehow, something similar will be done for the MCU. One follower brought this up on Twitter, which caught the eye of the original Doom Patrol account, and whoever is behind it, decided to make a mockery of that fans' post. Check out what the show's social media posted below:

Fans in the comment section had varying opinions about Doom Patrol's social media account's response. Some of them pointed out the original poster shouldn't have brought up Marvel Studios into the conversation since it was initially about DC FanDome and how Warner Bros. pulled off an amazing event for fans. Others, meanwhile, said that the MCU fans simply wanted something that DC fans got over the weekend and was in no way picking a fight.

Whichever the case may be, what's clear is that the Doom Patrol account's response only reinforced the rivalry between the two comic book brands. Granted that this competition began decades ago when both were exclusively thriving on print, the age of social media and their continued expansion on other media avenues have amplified it. It's worth noting, however, that it seems to be nothing more than a friendly rivalry as those officially involved in Marvel and DC's projects do not carry serious beef against each other. If anything, talents have worked with both companies, and the studios don't seem to be particularly bothered by this.

Overall, Warner Bros. did a really good job pulling off a virtual convention in DC FanDome, which was even better than what Comic-Con organized this year. They were able to maintain the hype throughout the event's full run, and they didn't encounter any major technical issues. No word yet on how many people actually tuned in to the global event, but the buzz that followed after on social media implies that people did check it out. As for Marvel Studios, Feige remains mum about their slate, which is fine considering what they pulled off with Avengers: Endgame and the Infinity Saga. That said, if they're ever planning to do an online convention, the bar set by DC is high. Even without Doom Patrol's social media account's trolling, their fans would expect something similar to it from them.
