The cast of Don’t Worry Darling, the second film directed by Olivia Wilde, boasts some of the top young talents in Hollywood. The film premiered on September 5, 2022 at the Venice Film Festival before being released in nationwide theaters on September 23, 2022. Don’t Worry Darling follows Alice Chambers, a 1950s housewife living in an exclusive, perfect-seeming community with her husband, Jack. Every morning, Alice wakes up and makes breakfast before bidding Jack goodbye on his way to work on the mysterious “Victory Project”. However, Alice begins to fear that there is something wrong and that nothing — including the Victory Project — is what it seems.

Controversy surrounded Don’t Worry Darling from the start. Before production was far underway, one of the movie’s principal stars, Shia LaBeouf, left for unknown reasons and was replaced by Harry Styles, who started a relationship with Olivia Wilde while filming. There were also rumors of an on-set feud between Wilde and Florence Pugh, and speculation that this is why Pugh did little to promote the movie. Unfortunately, the many controversies ended up overshadowing the movie itself. But even so, the cast of Don’t Worry Darling operates onscreen with commendable chemistry, and helps elevate the script and direction to a serious story about gender roles.
