To celebrate the upcoming release of Adam McKay's disaster comedy Don't Look UpNetflix released a new teaser image of stars Ariana Grande and Kid Cudi performing their original song "Just Look Up" in the film. Featuring an A-list cast with the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Meryl Streep, Jonah Hill, and more, Don't Look Up is easily one of the holiday season's most highly-anticipated releases. The story follows two low-level astronomers, Dr. Randall Mindy (DiCaprio) and Dr. Kate Dibiasky (Lawrence) as they embark on a massive media tour to warn people of an extremely dangerous comet heading towards Earth.

Though many people recognize Grande for her widely popular music career, the singer isn't a complete stranger to the big screen. Grande made a brief cameo in 2016's Zoolander 2 and was more recently cast as Glinda in the upcoming movie adaptation of the Broadway musical, Wicked. In Don't Look Up, Grande plays pop singer Riley Bina. Audiences recently got a quick Glimpse at her character in a trailer for the film, where she is seen chatting with Kate and Randall during what is presumably a stop on the astronomers' media tour. Riley is seemingly out of touch with the world and doesn't seem too threatened by Randall's warning of a planet-destroying comet.

Netflix recently shared an image of Ariana Grande and Kid Cudi—who's also set to appear in the film as DJ Chello—performing their new original song, "Just Look Up."  In the photo, the performers take the stage during what looks to be an epic concert sequence. So far, early reviews have praised Don't Look Up, with some going as far as to call the satire flick an early Oscar contender. McKay has had a string of successful projects in recent years, including 2018's political satire Vice and 2015's The Big ShortHis past films have tackled heavy topics such as government corruption, big banks, and the role of the media, and his newest movie seems like it's no exception. According to McKay, Don't Look Up tackles the increasing threat of the climate change crisis, and was even co-written with its star, DiCaprio, a known environmental activist. But while its subject matter might be serious in tone, critics have said it doesn't lack in comedy, with some saying it's one of the funniest films of the year.

Mixing serious topics with some witty dialogue and sharp humor is McKay's forte as a writer/director, and with an all-star cast to back up his vision, Don't Look Up is sure to be a box office triumph for the streaming service. For now, audiences eager to see the movie can see it during its brief theatrical run, which starts on Dec. 10th. And for those staying at home, Don't Look Up will be available for streaming on Netflix starting Dec. 24th. It'll be interesting to see how the events of this seemingly chaotic movie will unfold, and if it'll ultimately prove itself to be the Oscar darling some critics think it is.
