Jennifer Lawrence has revealed that she got high during filming for a scene opposite Meryl Streep in Don't Look Up. Lawrence stars in Adam McKay's upcoming feature that is set for a dual release this December, initially coming to theatres and then Netflix shortly after. Don't Look Up will see The Hunger Games star take on the role of weed-loving astronomer Dr. Kate Dibiasky who is desperately trying to save the world after discovering that a deadly asteroid is heading directly towards earth. The Mamma Mia actress is just one of Lawrence's high-profile co-stars that the film boasts, with the Streep set to play the President in Don't Look Up.

Alongside Lawrence and Streep, Don't Look Up will see Leonardo DiCaprio star as fellow astronomer Dr. Randall Mindy who is working with Dibiasky in an attempt to warn the world of its impending doom. Audiences will also see an impressive ensemble cast that includes the likes of Jonah Hill, Cate Blanchett, Mark Rylance, Tyler Perry, Timothée Chalamet, and Ariana Grande, whose characters each hold varying levels of concern regarding the incoming comet. In the film, Dibiasky uses marijuana to calm her nerves surrounding the events that are unfolding and now it appears that Lawrence could be somewhat of a method actor when it comes to Don't Look Up.

According to Yahoo! Entertainment, at a recent Q&A screening of Don't Look Up that took place in Los Angeles, Lawrence, McKay, DiCaprio, and Streep all sat down to chat about the film's production and gave some fun insights into what went on behind the scenes. McKay shared that Lawrence asked if she could get high for a particular scene in the film she had alongside Streep, in which Lawrence had no scripted lines of dialogue. The Mother! star then insisted that it was "because [her] character was getting high in the movie" to which McKay joked that he had to fight to urge to mess with her as a result.

Lawrence also shared that getting high on set meant that she became somewhat of an easy target for her fellow co-stars. The star went on to say “Everyone was f****** with me… I guess because I was high. Easy to f*** with." Lawrence has previously been fairly open about her relationship with marijuana, even admitting that she once took a hit off a bong before heading to an Oscars ceremony.

The release of Don't Look Up marks the end of Lawrence's short hiatus from the silver screen. Her last on-screen appearance saw her star as Mystique in 2019's X-Men: Dark Phoenixa role she first appeared in back in 2011, before going on to become the highest-paid actress in the world in both 2015 and 2016. McKay has compared this upcoming project to his previous work on 2015's The Big Short and 2010's The Other Guys, and so it will certainly be exciting to see what Lawrence brings to this upcoming release and, in particular, this weed-fuelled scene.
