Disguises are back in Fortnite for season 7. They allow players to don a random game object (like a barrel) that allows them to become the terrain. And hopefully, it will give them an opportunity to ambush an unsuspecting opponent.

However, players can’t simply pop on a disguise whenever they want to. They’ll need to seek out one of a few NPCs around the map and purchase a disguise for gold bars. Take a look below to see which NPCs provide disguises and where to find them.

How to Don a Disguise in Fortnite Season 7

As in previous seasons, the only way to gain access to a disguise is by speaking with particular NPCs. At the beginning of season 7, there are only four NPCs that allow players to activate disguises. They’re spread over the map, but not particularly hard to find.

Here are the NPCs that activate disguises:

Abstrakt

  • This NPC is the southernmost character that activates disguises. He hangs out around the very northern edge of Retail Row, toward the retail side of the Point of Interest.

Bushranger

  • Just north of the Aftermath, walking along the river, players will find Bushranger. If not spotted right away, keep trekking up and down the river. He doesn’t walk far from the purple remains at the center of the map, so it won’t take long to find him.

Hayseed

  • Head toward Steel Farm, which itself is northeast of Corny Complex. There, players will find Hayseed walking around, presumably tending to his crops.

Joey

  • Tucked into the very northwest corner of Dirty Docks stands Joey. He’ll gladly sell players a disguise if they can find him.

To activate a disguise, players must first find one of the four NPCs listed above. They also need to make sure they have 75 Bars on them as well. The NPCs aren’t giving these things away for free, after all. With cash in hand, the next step is to interact with the NPC. This will bring up a menu. Players then need to select the "Activate Prop Disguise" option. Confirm the purchase, and once complete, poof! They’ll become a random game object.

From there, they can walk around the map as the object, and as long as they don’t move, they’ll appear as if they are actually just a piece of the scenery. It’s a great way to get the drop on unsuspecting foes, and in previous seasons of Fortnite, there were even challenges associated with taking down enemies while disguised. So players shouldn’t be surprised if more of those types of challenges make an appearance again.

Season 7 of Fortnite has only just begun, but already, it’s shaping up to be a classic.
