Dolly Parton's recent meme challenge is going viral, and it's attracted the attention of everyone from Mark Ruffalo to Ellen DeGeneres. The meme challenge has people showing off four versions of themselves, all specific to four social media platforms: LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, and Tinder.

Social media challenges are the new norm. In 2014, the ALS Association started the "Ice Bucket Challenge," which ended up raising well over $100 million for for various research projects, while also raising global awareness. As serious as the intent might have been, the challenge was simple enough: people videotaped themselves having large buckets of ice poured over them. However, some challenges don't have any lofty goals, and go viral simply for the fun of it. "The Mannequin Challenge" is a perfect example of this. In 2016, it became so popular that celebrities like Beyoncé, Paul McCartney, and the entire Late Late Show with James Corden crew took part in it. Now, a new challenge is taking over social media, this time courtesy of the legendary Dolly Parton; and not only does it exist on social media, it incorporates four key social media platforms.

Parton first debuted the meme challenge on her Instagram on January 22, and it's already going viral. The challenge includes four different photos, each designated to four different social media platforms, and all representing how people tend to present themselves in different ways, depending on the platform they're using. For example, Parton's LinkedIn image includes a photo of herself dressed in business casual attire, while her Tinder image includes a photo of herself as a Playboy bunny from her 1978 photo shoot. Other celebrities have also joined in on the challenge. Check out some examples below:

This particular viral challenge is obviously harmless, but that hasn't always been the case. After the release of Bird Box on Netflix last year, some fans had taken part in a decidedly dangerous viral challenge in which people would perform various tasks while blindfolded. Naturally, this didn't end well. Aside from some people hurting themselves by walking into walls, one participant took part in the challenge while driving and ended up crashing their car. Thankfully, no one was injured.

As for the social media photo challenge, its immediate virality is a testament to Dolly Parton's influence. A game-changing entertainer in the world of music, Parton has been a household name for decades. And, at 74 years old, she's proven time and time again that she is just as relevant as the day she broke out into the mainstream.
