The Samsung Galaxy A23 is an affordable 5G smartphone that's been launched in the United States, but does it come with a charger in the box? Just a couple of years ago, customers buying a new smartphone never had to worry about the accessories in the box. However, Apple removed the charger from the box of the iPhone 12 under the guise of being environmentally friendly, and soon, this became a trend followed by several others.
It started with other smartphone brands not shipping a free charger with their flagship models. However, this year, Samsung took the no-charger trend to the next level by selling its affordable smartphones without a power adapter. Last year, Samsung released the A13 5G, a $249.99 smartphone, without a power adapter in the box. The entry-level $159.99 Galaxy A03s does not ship with a charging brick either.
Like other smartphones in the series, the Samsung Galaxy A23 5G does not come with a charger. On the official landing page of the Galaxy A23 5G, Samsung mentions in fine print that the wall charger is sold separately. Those who want to buy the affordable 5G smartphone have to pay more to buy a charger if they do not have one already. Further, the company advises customers to "use only Samsung-approved chargers and cables." Samsung also writes, "To avoid injury or damage to your device, do not use incompatible, worn or damaged batteries, chargers or cables."
How Much The Galaxy A23 5G Costs With A Charger
Samsung says that removing power bricks from smartphone boxes is in the best interest of the environment. While it's true that this reduces the overall packaging material, smartphone brands also save money by not bundling a free charger, and even make more profits by urging customers to buy chargers from them. Since the Galaxy A23 5G supports 25W wired charging, it makes sense for buyers to get the 25W USB-C Wall Charger from Samsung that's priced at $34.99. The A23 5G retails for $299.99, and with the 25W wall adapter, the total price jumps to $334.98.
Samsung and Apple aren't the only brands that have chosen to remove chargers from their smartphone retail boxes. Motorola doesn't include chargers with some models, and even Nothing released the Phone (1) without a charger. Galaxy A23 5G buyers who already have a wall charger that supports 25W fast charging don't need to worry about buying a new charger. If not, the only option is to buy a compatible charger either from Samsung or a third-party brand.
