Warning: This article contains major spoilers for Orphan: First Kill.Orphan: First Kill sees Isabelle Fuhrman return to play Esther for the first time since 2009, but does the movie have a future-teasing post-credit scene? Esther first appeared in Jaume Collet-Serra's Orphan, in which it was memorably revealed that the creepy young girl is actually a manipulative 33-year-old woman called Leena Klammer. Orphan: First Kill is a prequel that reveals how Leena created the Esther persona. The reception to the movie has generally been positive thanks to its display of self-awareness regarding its absurd premise.

In Orphan: First Kill, Leena escapes from an Estonian psychiatric facility and poses as missing child Esther Albright to avoid the authorities chasing her. The Albright family, led by matriarch Tricia (Julia Stiles), is seemingly thrilled when "Esther" returns home, but not everything is quite as it seems. Building upon the original movie, Orphan: First Kill is full of creative twists, gory slasher action, and frightening jump scares. With the Orphan universe brought back to theaters 13 years after the original, there is a question of whether further sequels will be made. Here's how Orphan: First Kill sets up a future for the horror franchise.

Does Orphan: First Kill Have An After Credits Scene?

Orphan: First Kill does not have an after-credits scene. The decision is unusual given the recent rumors of another sequel and the franchise potential of Orphan. That said, recent horror movies have tended to avoid making viewers wait around for the credits to roll, with last year's The Conjuring 3 having no post-credits scene either.

Did Orphan: First Kill Need An After Credits Scene

Although Orphan: First Kill does not have a post-credits scene, it doesn't really need to have one anyway. The final scene of the prequel movie reveals the fate of Esther following her experience with the Albright family and does more than enough to set up a future installment. Following the deaths of the Albright family members, Esther/Leena's therapist, Dr. Segar, says that she has a suitable family in mind for the conniving "orphan" to move in with.

Although Isabelle Fuhrman is now 25 years old, First Kill's clever use of practical effects and a child body double means that she can still convincingly play a young girl. Recently, Fuhrman confirmed that discussions for a third movie in the Orphan franchise are ongoing, although it shouldn't take another 13 years to produce. So, despite not having an after-credits scene to set up its future, expect to see Orphan: First Kill's Esther return again soon.
