Does Lightyear have any after-credits scenes that set up future Pixar projects? The Buzz Lightyear origin story marks the 26th feature film from Pixar Animation Studios and the second to debut in 2022. It's also the fifth from the world of Toy Story. Unlike Turning Red, however, Lightyear is releasing exclusively in theaters.

Directed by Angus McLane, Lightyear serves as a Toy Story prequel spinoff, sharing the story of fictional astronaut Buzz Lightyear who went on to inspire a line of popular merchandise in the Pixar universe. To put it more simply, this would be the movie that made Andy from Toy Story want the Buzz Lightyear action figure in the first place. Instead of Tim Allen, who voiced the toy version, the young Space Ranger in Lightyear is voiced by Chris Evans as the character becomes trapped on a strange planet with his crew, including a robot cat named Sox.

In total, Pixar's Lightyear has THREE credits scenes. Aside from an initial credits sequence, there's a mid-credits scene and a post-credits teaser at the end of Lightyear. Like past Pixar credits scenes, the first two Lightyear credits scene poke fun at the plot. The first is a follow-up of the movie's concluding events, while the second is a fun follow-up to a previous gag in the movie. The final Lightyear credits scene, however, is the most intriguing and one that shouldn't be missed. Granted, it's always worth sticking around for the credits are rolling for moviegoers to celebrate those involved in the many aspects of developing a Pixar feature film.

Lightyear's third credits sequence will garner more discussion based on the repercussions involved. Out of the three credits scenes, the final one teases the possibility of a Lightyear sequel or perhaps another spinoff based in the same universe featuring a major character. It's unclear what's planned for the future of the Lightyear story or with the Toy Story franchise as a whole, but there are plenty of options for more sequels or deeper origin stories like the case with Buzz.

The existence of Lightyear post-credits scenes could have gone either way since not all Pixar movies have included them. The latest Pixar installments, Turning Red and Luca, did have credits scenes, but the same can't be said for all movies from the studio. As for Toy Story movies, the first movie from 1995 didn't have any special scenes while the credits rolled, but the sequel, Toy Story 2, played an entertaining blooper reel featuring Andy's toys. Toy Story 3 went with a similar montage, while Toy Story 4 had multiple credits scenes, including one that resolved one of Toy Story 4's biggest cliffhangers. Though Lightyear clearly went the fun route with the credits scenes, the movie also uses the opportunity to look at a possible future.
