Warning: Major Spoilers for Halloween Ends below!Halloween Ends pits Laurie Strode against Michael Myers one more time, and the movie delivers an intense conclusion for the two characters. Of course, throughout the Halloween franchise, Michael Myers has survived certain death to continue killing. Given the title of Halloween Ends and how the latest iteration of the franchise has unfolded, there has also been speculation that Jamie Lee Curtis's Laurie Strode would finally be killed off in the movie.

In Halloween Ends, which is set four years after Halloween Kills, Laurie has begun writing a memoir of her life and Michael Myers's impact on it, with much of Haddonfield blaming her for the killer's recent bloodshed. Halloween Ends brings Laurie face-to-face once more with Michael, as well as his new killer accomplice, Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell). The outcome is a decidedly definitive one for Laurie and the Halloween franchise alike, but by the movie's end, she's still alive.

At the end of Halloween Ends, Laurie Strode and Michael Myers have a brutal fight in her kitchen. Laurie manages to get the upper hand after pinning Michael's hands to the kitchen table with a pair of knives, only for him to tear one hand free and begin to choke her. It seems Michael might strangle Laurie to death, but her granddaughter, Alyson (Andi Matichak), arrives to free her. Michael's throat and wrist are then slashed, and he seems dead, but Laurie and Alyson don't take any chances. They take Michael's body to an auto salvage yard, where Laurie pushes him into a shredding machine. With Michael Myers's body completely ground up, his Halloween night rampages appear to be finally put to an end for good.

As Halloween Ends wraps up following Michael Myers's death, Laurie Strode concludes her memoir, revealing that no tombstone was erected for the killer. Haddonfield Police Deputy Frank Hawkins (WIll Patton) arrives to strike up a conversation with Laurie, and their romance begins to spark again. With the knowledge that Michael Myers has been definitively vanquished in a way that he cannot come back from, Laurie can, at last, let go of her fear and her constant need to be on guard.

The final moments of Halloween Ends indicate that Laurie Strode's story has finally concluded, and it's safe to say that she will be retired as a character. With that said, the Halloween franchise has repeatedly retconned itself to tell new stories, so it might very well continue on a new track. Whether that happens with more supernatural stories like Halloween III: Season of the Witch or Michael Myers returning in a different story unconnected to the Blumhouse trilogy, this won't likely be the last audiences see of the franchise. Despite the title of this one, the book is never fully closed on Halloween.
