Warning: SPOILERS for The Boys season 3, episode 6!

Starlight (Erin Moriarty) is now in dangerous territory after making an enemy of Homelander (Antony Starr) in The Boys season 3, but does Homelander kill Starlight in the comics? Prime Video's adaptation of Garth Ennis' superhero comic has come with plenty of changes, but The Boys still primarily focuses on the same characters and tells a similar overall story. The Boys season 3 has even brought the show closer to the source material than ever before by having Billy Butcher (Karl Urban) and Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) gain superpowers.

Billy and Hughie's powers give them the strength to take matters into their own hands, which means they are not operating as smoothly when allied with Starlight. The new co-captain of The Seven wants to eliminate Homelander due to his growing instability, but she also wants to do it the right way. This has meant Starlight is not in favor of helping Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) kill his old teammates in exchange for him taking out Homelander. Unsurprisingly, Starlight's frustrations continued in The Boys season 3, episode 6.

The show might be most focused on Billy Butcher and Homelander's rivalry, or even the new one forming around Soldier Boy and Homelander, but Starlight is also sure to play a central role in however the story progresses. She has had plenty of interactions with The Seven's powerful leader in the past, as she's even played the part of his fake public girlfriend in season 3. There will likely come a time for Starlight and Homelander to have a more contentious confrontation, but Homelander does not kill Starlight in the comics. While The Boys can and does take a fair few of its stories in different directions, the comics usually are a good indicator of what is to come.

Does Starlight Die In The Boys Comics?

Starlight in The Boys TV Show and Comics

Starlight and Homelander are certainly enemies throughout most of The Boys comics. However, Starlight does not die in the comics when the story finally comes to a close. She is fully prepared to die trying to defeat Homelander, but Queen Maeve actually saves her from his wrath. This results in Homelander killing Queen Maeve, and Black Noir later is the one responsible for killing The Seven's leader. Starlight's story in The Boys' comic ends happily, as she and Hughie are given the chance to start a new life together.

Will Starlight Die In The Boys Season 3?

Homelander from The Boys looking smug and Starlight beside him looking dejected.

It is very difficult to believe that Starlight will die in The Boys season 3. Not only do the comics signal that she should survive the entirety of the series, but the show has made Erin Moriarty's superhero an even better character. By avoiding some of the most controversial parts of her stories, Starlight has become one of The Boys' best characters. Prime Video has already confirmed that The Boys season 4 is happening, and it would be surprising (and disappointing) if that happened without Starlight.

There is always the chance that The Boys season 3 kills Starlight to deliver a major surprise to viewers and comic readers alike, but it isn't easy to imagine that happening in a satisfying way. With Queen Maeve possibly dead and Kimiko losing her powers, killing Starlight would also mean The Boys would be getting rid of its most prominent female Supes. Instead of killing the Supe, The Boys season 3 and beyond will have to get creative in figuring out why Homelander and Vought will not do everything they can to keep her quiet permanently.
