When it comes to the topic of romance on Doctor Who, it’s the lead character’s pairing with Rose that instantly springs to mind. Even though it’s been a decade and a half since their time was depicted in the series, the two remain the apex couple for fans.

That’s for good reason as well, seeing as both of them contributed a significant deal to each other’s characterizations. The reason for them falling in love came down to certain instances, and these should be recapped in order to make this point clear. That said, here are 10 times The Doctor and Rose proved they were “#couplegoals.”

The Beginning Of Rose And The Tenth Doctor's Adventures

The Tenth Doctor was still trying to understand who he was in his new regeneration, and was nervous if Rose would want to rejoin him in this new form. Not only did she accept him, but Rose also put her faith in the Doctor to take her to the stars.

Their mutual love for adventure was evident before their departure when Jackie and Mickey claimed they didn’t understand why the two went looking for trouble. In response, Rose and The Doctor laughed off any fear of the unknown, as they held each other’s hand ready for their next trip in the TARDIS.

Their Intention To Stay Together Forever

This was a fleeting moment, yet it summarized the dynamic between The Doctor and Rose perfectly. Right at the peak of their travels in the universe, The Doctor asked Rose how long she wanted to stay with him, to which she responded that he’d be with him forever.

Although The Doctor usually refrained from showing any obvious affection, it was clear from his look of affection that he reciprocated. This claim was repeated in the Series 2 finale when Rose and The Doctor risked death just so they could be with each other. Now that’s one match made in Heaven.

When They Were Separated

The Doctor has had gut-wrenching separations with other close companions, yet there was no doubt this was a separation of lovers. Despite their best efforts, Rose and The Doctor were stuck in two different universes, meaning they might never see each other again.

Here, Rose was left banging on the wall screaming for The Doctor to take her back, while he could do nothing more than solemnly try to feel her touch from the other side. They were separated, but the passion within the two was bursting for the viewer to see.

Their First Reunion

In one of the most memorable episodes of the series, The Doctor and Rose were finally reunited. At this moment, it seemed as if the whole world was insignificant, as the two spotted each other from afar and ran as fast as they could to be in each other’s arms.

Although The Doctor ended up getting shot by a Dalek, the two were still together once more. It was also due to Rose being by his side that The Doctor regenerated without changing his appearance, something that he’d never done before and only willed himself to do so because of Rose.

When They Sacrificed Themselves For Each Other

The moment Rose truly proved her mettle as The Doctor’s companion was when she almost gave her life to save him. He, in turn, had sent her back to the past on a one-way trip in the TARDIS so that she wouldn’t die alongside him.

Rose would then become the Bad Wolf in order to travel back to the future and save The Doctor’s life, despite it fatally wounding her. Finally, The Doctor absorbed the energy from inside Rose to save her in turn, completing the circle of sacrifices both of them made for each other.

Their Second First Meeting

After his regeneration from the Ninth to the Tenth Doctor, Rose was left baffled at the new man in front of her. Her loyalty to The Doctor was proven when she still wanted the old version back, believing him to have been replaced.

However, the 5-minute short before the Christmas special brought a sweet moment between the new Doctor and Rose. Here, he reminded her of all their fun times, and when they’d first met, as Rose slowly accepted that the man she had fallen in love with was still there just in a new face.

The Doctor And Rose's Dance

While she’s mostly associated with the Tenth Doctor, it was the Ninth Doctor that Rose originally fell for. One of the first hints at their burgeoning feelings were when she got the Doctor to finally relax, culminating in him outright dancing with her.

This also led to The Doctor saving Captain Jack’s life due to Rose’s influence. As a celebration of their achievement, Rose and The Doctor enjoyed a light-hearted moment where they enjoy each other’s company through a combination of dance moves.

Their Adventure With The Queen

By the time Rose and the Tenth Doctor had arrived for their adventure with the queen, it was clear that they had reached the point of understanding where absolutely no danger felt like a big deal. Even when threatened, the two were joking about meeting the queen rather than worrying about their potential deaths.

What’s more, the two would be knighted and have this title forever with them, along with the memory of having saved the queen. Not to mention their hilarious banter about who had the better Scottish accent.

Their Declaration Of Love Across Universes

It remains a heartbreaking memory for fans, yet their original final interaction is one of the best proofs of Rose and The Doctor’s love. Here, Rose, even in her devastated state of being separated from him, mustered up the courage to tell The Doctor that she was in love with him.

Unfortunately, The Doctor was unable to respond fast enough, as he was then transported back to his universe, leaving his declaration of love incomplete. However, the moment was good enough to confirm that he did, in fact, love Rose in a way that he’d never loved anyone else.

When They Met For The First And Last Time

Thanks to time travel, The Doctor’s last meeting with Rose was her first with him. Mere moments before his regeneration, he chose to have a final glimpse of the first face the Tenth Doctor saw and wished Rose the best year ever. This would incidentally be the year she was to meet the Ninth Doctor.

Although nearing death, seeing Rose one last time brought The Doctor the courage he needed to go through with his regeneration. Despite not knowing him at the time, Rose would still respond to The Doctor in kind, proving that they would always have instant chemistry no matter the situation.
