A new Doctor Who art recreates the Tenth Doctor's meeting with his daughter, Jenny, in a 15th-anniversary post on the episode "The Doctor's Daughter." Jenny was portrayed by Georgia Tennant, who starred alongside husband Tennant, Catherine Tate, and Freema Agyeman in the season 4 episode that aired in May 2008. Doctor Who season 4 saw the Tenth Doctor reunite with one-time companion Donna Noble (Tate) as they traveled through space and time, witnessing the eruption of Mount Vesuvius and fending off a Sontaran invasion to a glimpse at a potentially darker timeline.

In an Instagram post, artist Daniel Weigh marked the anniversary of "The Doctor's Daughter" with his latest Doctor Who season 4 artwork.

The artwork sees the Tenth Doctor meeting his daughter Jenny for the first time in front of the Progenation Machine, where he had been forced to give a DNA sample to human soldiers during the war on Messaline. The Hath also features in Weigh's artwork, debuting as the former allies-turned-despised foes of the Messaline human settlers in the episode.

Who Is Jenny, The Doctor's Daughter?

Within the Doctor Who worlds, Jenny is a being created by the Messaline settlers' Progenation machines using the Doctor's DNA, intended to be used as a soldier by General Cobb's (Nigel Terry) human faction in their fight against the Hath. The Doctor is at first disturbed by Jenny but soon embraces her as family. She grows past the militaristic mindset she was born with, but she would be fatally wounded by Cobb after bringing the Messaline war to a close. However, Jenny was revived by the terraforming device known as "The Source" and would follow in her father's footsteps, stealing a ship and setting out to explore, save planets, and do a lot of running.

Behind the scenes of Doctor Who, Georgia Tennant is the daughter of Fifth Doctor actor Peter Davidson, who portrayed the character from 1982 to 1984. Tennant met the then-Tenth Doctor actor during the production of "The Doctor's Daughter," and the two began dating sometime after filming before marrying in 2011. While Jenny has yet to return on-screen, the character has lived on and even reunited with the Doctor in the expanded media, with Tennant reprising her role for numerous Big Finish-produced audio dramas.

Within Tennant's tenure as the Tenth Doctor, "The Doctor's Daughter" occurs at a pivotal point in his character's journey. Not only would Jenny offer him a chance at finding family again, but her presence would weigh on the Doctor's mind and play into the two-part season final, "The Stolen Earth/Journey's End." Beyond the Doctor Who world, the episode's production is significant as it saw both stars meet, leading to their own relationship. As such, Weigh's artwork is a tender celebration of one of the modern series' most notable stories.
