After several months of hiatus, the space and time traveling TARDIS is about to rematerialize for Doctor Who season seven part two. A few days back, BBC offered a sneak peek at what adventures await the Doctor and his soon-to-be introduced companion, Clara Oswald (played by Jenna-Louise Coleman) in a new season 7 teaser poster. Coleman has already enjoyed two separate appearances on the show, playing variations on new companion Clara (for reasons that have yet to be fully explained), but that hasn't lessened excitement surrounding the debut of her (primary) character on the show.
The season 7.5 poster also teased a few of the monsters that the Doctor and Clara are set to face and today, BBC has released a handful of official images from upcoming episodes - providing a closer look at enemies, guest stars, and even the return of a fan-favorite fashion accessory, the fez.
We'll have to wait a little longer for a glimpse at "redesigned" Cybermen or the heart of the TARDIS but these new images certainly hint at fun adventures on the horizon (click to enlarge):

Longtime Whovians are eagerly anticipating the return of the Ice Warriors (aka Ice Lords), who were slightly redesigned for their premiere in the modern Doctor Who era. How exactly the Mars-born reptiles will factor into season 7 of Doctor Who is mostly unclear - as Steven Moffat only confirmed their presence (and, as usual, withheld any potentially revealing story context). All we do know, for the time being, is to expect the classic Who villains in post-hiatus episode three (i.e. season 7, episode 8) - on a Russian submarine.
Equally mysterious is the cone-headed mummy creature that features prominently in the new image as well as the latest teaser trailer for Doctor Who series 7. The BBC's press materials don't provide any further hints about the character - only asserting that curious fans will have their questions answered when the "sinister looking figure" appears in the second mid-season episode (episode 7 overall).
In addition to monsters, several images show Clara interacting with the Doctor - and judging by her prior appearances on the show, along with the new photos, Coleman appears to be a solid (and cheeky) replacement for Amy Pond and Rory Williams. Of course, we've yet to be introduced to the contemporary Clara character but it's unlikely that Coleman will play Clara Oswald significantly different than Clara Oswin Oswald or Oswin Oswald - whether or not that is good or bad news to fans of the show will depend on how they felt about the episodes, "Asylum of the Daleks" and the 2012 Christmas Special, "The Snowmen."
Lastly, much like pre-season 7 images provided a hint at guest stars for upcoming episodes, this new round of pictures also features new supporting players: Dougray Scott (who almost played Wolverine in the X-Men films) as Professor Alec Palmer and Jessica Raine (Robin Hood) as Emma Rayling in season 7, episode 10 - a haunted house story. A number of other guest appearances have already been confirmed - though BBC is holding back official images of episodes 11-14 for the time being.
