Eight more actors have joined the guest cast of Doctor Who: FluxFlux is the upcoming thirteenth season of the popular British time travel series. An abbreviated six-episode season, Flux will mark Jodie Whitaker's final outing in the lead role as the Time Lord who has the ability to regenerate form. This will herald in a major shakeup in the series, because, in addition to recasting the Doctor, original reboot showrunner Russell T. Davies will be returning to Doctor Who for season 14 as well.

This season will follow the emergence of a growing threat known as the Flux, which will also bring along several classic Doctor Who threats. The trailer for the new season, in which an emergency transmission from the Doctor was intercepted by BBC, warned that the Sontarans and Weeping Angels would both be returning, in addition to new creatures known as Ravages. Readying for its premiere on October 31, Doctor Who: Flux has already wrapped filming with Jodie Whitaker.

BBC just announced the addition of eight more guest stars to the jam-packed season 13. Doctor Who: Flux had previously announced the participation of guests like A Very English Scandal's Blake Harrison and Downton Abbey's Kevin McNally along with 7 others, but now the group has nearly doubled. The newly announced cast members for Doctor Who: Flux are Rochenda Sandall, Sam Spruell, Craige Els, Steve Oram, Nadia Albina, Jonathan Watson, Sue Jenkins, and Paul Broughton.

Rochenda Sandall as Lisa McQueen in Line of Duty

Many of these performers are naturally best known from UK television, including Coronation Street (Craige Els), Doctors (Nadia Albina), and Brookside (Paul Broughton). Indeed, Sue Jenkins has appeared in all three series. Jonathan Watson has been featured in other BBC series like Two Doors Down and Bob Servant, but several cast members have made appearances in projects with higher crossover appeal as well. For instance, Sam Spruell appeared in Snow White and the Huntsman and Taken 3, and Steve Oram starred in both seasons of The End of the F***ing World. Likewise, there's Rochenda Sandall, who has appeared in the Steve McQueen TV miniseries Small Axe in the "Mangrove" episode in addition to playing a Sith officer in Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

Doctor Who: Flux promises to be loaded with new material, given how many actors have joined to bring the truncated season to life. In addition to being a victory lap for Whitaker and showrunner Chris Chibnall, the series will have the opportunity to explore new characters who might take the show in another direction in the next season. Although the next Doctor hasn't been cast yet, any of the other cast members joining this season may recur, if they make a strong enough impression.
