The Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer had several Marvel surprises, and it seems Loki hid spoilers for the movie all along. Marvel took some of the attention from Super Bowl LVI thanks to a Doctor Strange 2 trailer, which included new footage and several surprise appearances. In the trailer, Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) confronts Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), who's seemingly taking a villainous turn. Additionally, America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez) fights alongside Doctor Strange throughout the Multiverse, and Strange seemingly appears before Marvel's Illuminati to stand trial. During the scene, a "Mystery Voice" says, "We should tell him the truth." The voice seems to belong to Patrick Stewart's Professor X, placing the X-Men in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Loki and Doctor Strange 2 have a common denominator that's getting overlooked. Marvel writer Michael Waldron wrote scripts for both Loki and Doctor Strange 2, which hints that the two projects are more deeply connected than fans thought. After all, Loki introduced the Multiverse to the MCU by having Lady Loki/Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) kill He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) and destroy the Sacred Timeline. So in all likelihood, Doctor Strange 2 will continue concepts introduced in Loki. After all, if not for Loki, Doctor Strange's adventures in the Multiverse in Doctor Strange 2 would never happen.

Following the latest Doctor Strange 2 trailer, it's apparent that Loki may hide several spoilers for the upcoming film. For instance, a villain tease in Loki may finally come to fruition in the Doctor Strange sequel. In addition, fans believe they've spotted Mahershala Ali's Blade in the trailer, and Loki previously hinted at Blade. Finally, several other elements from Loki, including the Time Variance Authority's time doors and variants, also appear in Doctor Strange 2. So overall, Loki may have several clues about the movie.

Nightmare Could Be Doctor Strange's Villain

Loki hinted at Doctor strange 2 likely villain nightmare

In the Doctor Strange 2 trailer, Stephen Strange says he has recurring dreams, adding, "And then the nightmare begins." The statement appears to tease Nightmare as the upcoming film's villain. Nightmare, a supervillain/demon who tortures people in dreams, was also previously teased in Loki. In the Loki premiere, Tom Hiddleston's Loki calls the TVA a "nightmare," which prompts Owen Wilson's Mobius to joke that nightmares are from "another department." And Mobius has no qualms about Loki burning that department to the ground. So the Nightmare tease may have set up the villain for Doctor Strange 2 the whole time.

There May Be More To Doctor Strange's Variants

Doctor Strange 2 Variants

Loki introduced the concept of variants in the MCU. The revelation shows that any character could have numerous variations of themselves in different universes and timelines. For instance, Loki includes several variants of the God of Mischief, such as Alligator Loki and Richard E. Grant's Classic Loki. However, Doctor Strange 2 may take the concept of variants to another level.

The Doctor Strange 2 trailer introduces several new variants. For instance, Benedict Cumberbatch plays a Sinister Strange in the trailer and a Zombie Strange. However, more characters appear to get variants in the trailer too. With Marvel seemingly introducing the Illuminati, the film may include variants of the secret group's founders, including Iron Man. Because of variants, Marvel doesn't even have to bring back Robert Downey Jr. for the role. Instead, the studio could bring in an Iron Man variant, and rumors say Tom Cruise could play the alternate Tony Stark.

Blade Could Appear In Doctor Strange 2

Before Mahershala Ali's Blade made a voice cameo in Eternals, Loki dropped several hints about the part-vampire daywalker. A compartment of confiscated items at the TVA contains a crucifix, and Mobius lists vampires as some of the MCU's most powerful characters. "You know, we brought in Kree, Titans, vampires. Why is it the two orphan demigods are such a pain in the ass?" Mobius says. If vampires are already strong, Blade will be even stronger to hunt them.

Interestingly, during Doctor Strange's trial scene, viewers noticed one character seemed to have a sword-like weapon. Since Blade is the MCU's prominent sword-carrying vigilante, the scene hints that the daywalker will appear in the movie. Blade isn't one of Marvel's Illuminati in the comics, so introducing the character in the group could be a new MCU twist. And the teases in Loki could've been hinting at it.

The TVA's Time Doors May Appear In Doctor Strange 2

Loki Episode 2 Ending Time Door

In Loki, the TVA has devices to create time doors/portals to travel between two places instantly. Lady Loki seemingly destroys the Sacred Timeline in the Loki finale, leaving the future of the TVA in question. However, the TVA technology may be continuing in the MCU. Fans (via Reddit) noticed the TVA's time doors appear to show up in Doctor Strange 2. Marvel regularly uses trailer trickery to throw viewers off of the main story, so some theories suggest the supposed glowing doors are simply Scarlet Witch battling in the Illuminati headquarters, which are on fire. However, if the Time Variance Authority technology does appear, it may explain how Doctor Strange continually jumps into other dimensions in the trailer.

Loki Hid Doctor Strange Easter Eggs In The Void

Loki Doctor strange living tribunal

In Loki, Tom Hiddleston's and Sophia Di Martino's characters eventually make it to the Void, a place at the end of time. The Void is a dumping ground for aborted realities, and the TVA constantly sends items from pruned timelines there. Thus, the place is full of Marvel Easter eggs, including several potential nods to Doctor Strange 2. For example, the Void appears to have a destroyed version of Doctor Strange's Sanctum Sanctorum, perhaps hinting how the Sanctum gets destroyed in Doctor Strange 2. Additionally, there are remnants of a statue to the Living Tribunal. The original Doctor Strange previously referenced the Living Tribunal, with Chiwetel Ejiofor's Mordo using the Staff of the Living Tribunal in the film. With the mention in Loki, the cosmic entity could appear in Doctor Strange 2.

The Real Loki May Appear In Doctor Strange 2

Beyond mere Easter eggs, fans also think they've spotted the actual Loki in Doctor Strange 2. Following the Loki finale, The Hollywood Reporter noted that Hiddleston's character was expected to appear in the upcoming Doctor Strange film. And fans think they've already seen him in the trailer. During the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness trailer, Strange appears before a character who's wearing green. Of course, Mordo also wears green in the trailer, but fans (via Twitter) noted similarities to a previous MCU scene showing Loki. The moment may not have a lot of evidence, but it's enough for Loki to cause some mischief.
