Fans of Doctor Strange are about to begin a brand new chapter in the Sorcerer Supreme's life, now that he has finally done the unthinkable. With a life on the line, Stephen Strange used magic to heal his hands to their original, immaculate state. Allowing him to not only continue his mastery of the mystic arts... but return to the operating room as Dr. StrangeSurgeon Supreme starting this December.

The event itself arrived back in the pages of Doctor Strange #19, when a child's imminent death forced Doctor Strange to re-grow his hands, and save the boy's life. It's a perfect twist to set up a brand new series, with writer Mark Waid and artist Kev Walker bringing Strange's new balancing act to life. But can Strange be a master of magic and medicine without fumbling either role? A new trailer teases the very challenge, while promising readers a story as horrifying as they would hope.

The trailer provides a few teases and plot details fans have yet to hear, including the new backdrop for the series of McCarthy Medical Institute. As the hospital's leading neurosurgeon, Strange will work to get back into his groove as one of the greatest surgeons in the world -- all while working in the same hospital as Marvel's new Valkyrie, Jane Foster. It's safe to say their proximity and familiarity with the mystical side of the Marvel Universe will provide opportunities for crossovers a plenty, but for now, readers can find the new trailer below:

The promise of seeing Doctor--sorry, Dr. Strange dividing his days between the hospital and arcane horrors is a compelling enough premise for the new book, but it's Waid's interest in less cosmically-significant adventures that may be a welcome shift for fans:

What I'm really looking forward to is telling smaller, more human stories. We want to get more into the heart of Doctor Strange and what it’s like to have to make the decisions he has to make every day... Kev Walker is the perfect fit for this. His style is so human and yet so horrific at the same time... It's a Doctor Strange you've not seen in a long, long time. and make no mistake, this is, at heart a horror book.It is scary, and it's dealing with things that you and I can really grasp and really be afraid of.
