Warning: This list contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The newly released Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced many Marvel variants, both new and old, to the MCU. Whether it was different versions from the familiar universe-616 or the fan-serving debuts in universe-838, the Doctor Strange sequel gave a refreshing take on many beloved characters.

One of the best ways the variants made their impressions on audiences was through their gripping dialogues. From Black Bolt's whispered reveal of powers to Captain Marvel's regrettable underestimation of the Scarlet Witch, each variant contributed their share of great quotes to the film, making their characters all the more memorable.

Baron Mordo (Universe 838)

"My Brother."

Baron Mordo smiles in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The Mordo introduced into the MCU with the first Doctor Strange had a complicated relationship with Stephen by the end of the film. However, Mordo of Earth-838 is shown to have been a good friend of Strange's, right up until his corruption - much to Stephen's surprise.

Mordo calling Strange his brother is thus a quick but very monumental quote, given that it shows the various possibilities available in the multiverse, with even the most ambivalent relationships being transformed into strong friendships.

Black Bolt (Universe 838)

"I'm sorry."

Black Bolt appears in the Inhumans TV series.

Although there are many things comic book fans will already know about Black Bolt, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness marked his first introduction to the MCU. Serving on Earth-838's Illuminati council, he appears to be a solemn fellow, who luckily doesn't engage in conversation with Strange, as Captain Carter comments.

Audiences soon learn why: Black Bolt is able to vanquish anyone with a mere whisper from his voice. The only time viewers hear him speak is when he destroys Strange-838 by stating "I'm sorry." The quote is not only his only line in the film, but also a powerful depiction of his fantastic yet tragic ability.

Captain Marvel (Universe 838)

"Oh, we can handle your little witch."

Maria Rambeau in Captain Marvel

While universe-616's Captain Marvel title is donned by Brie Larson's Carol Danvers, in universe-838 it's given to her close friend, Lashana Lynch's Maria Rambeau, who is another member of the Illuminati. Unfortunately, Maria greatly underestimates Wanda, the "little witch" who easily finishes her moments later.

This line not only showcases her misjudgment and exemplifies Wanda's powers, but it also is in stark contrast with the relationship her daughter, Monica, had with Wanda in WandaVision. Just as the multiverse offers a second chance at some relationships, it also contains the deterioration and disregard of others.

Reed Richards (Universe 838)

"The greatest danger to the multiverse, it turns out, is you."

Mister Fantastic, John Krasinski, and Doctor Strange

While John Krasinki's version of Reed Richards, AKA Mister Fantastic, was one of the highlights of the film, his time on-screen is very short-lived before Wanda shreds him into oblivion like string cheese. Before his death, however, he does deliver one of his best lines as yet another Illuminati member.

By stating that the greatest threat to the multiverse is not actually Wanda but Strange himself, Reed forces Strange to take a look at his own actions and the similarities between the two destructive magic wielders. Reed is also thus established as a voice of reason and an authoritative moral compass, much like in the original Fantastic Four series.

Sinister Strange

"I was looking for a world where things were different."

Sinister Strange laughing in Doctor Strange 2

Having gotten a hand on the Darkhold, Sinister Strange becomes obsessed with uniting with his love, Christine Palmer. Unfortunately, he becomes corrupted by the contents of the book and leads his universe into a collapse known as an incursion.

This quote by Sinister Strange is very powerful, as it draws parallels between his plight and Wanda's. Although Strange of Earth-616 might condemn her actions, this variant of Strange was easily led onto the same path as Wanda in an identical pursuit of happiness and love, albeit at the hands of the Darkhold.

Billy & Tommy (Universe 838)

"We like ice cream like every child should. And if we get some ice cream, we promise to be good!"

Wanda Maximoff speaks with her sons in Multiverse of Madness.

In removing the hex from Westview in WandaVision, Wanda also lost her magically spawned twins, Billy and Tommy. However, in one of the best reveals in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, viewers see that her boys are indeed real. Alternate versions of them exist throughout the multiverse, alive and healthy and living a happy life with other variants of Wanda.

Despite its simplicity, their adorable ice cream song is a very emotional moment in the film. Not only does it exemplify the innocence and charm of the twins that was established in the series, but it also depicts the wholesome, fulfilling life the MCU's Wanda could have had with them.

Wanda Maximoff (Universe 838)

"Know that they'll be loved."

Wanda, Vision, and the twins in Wandavision

The Wanda Maximoff of universe 838 is just living her simple, domestic life with her boys before the Scarlet Witch of 616 dream walks into her body. From there, the woman goes on a killing spree to send America Chavez to Earth-616, after which she immediately returns to her boys upon regaining consciousness.

When Wanda-616 is forced to confront her sons as the horrifying terror she has become, Wanda-838 consoles both the twins and also this alternate version of her. This quote not only embodies Wanda-838's maternal abilities but also gives Wanda some closure in knowing that they will remain loved and looked after.

Professor X (Universe 838)

"Just because someone stumbles and loses their way, doesn't mean they're lost forever."

Patrick Stewart as Professor X in X-Men

Charles Xavier's introduction into the MCU has been a long-awaited event, ever since Patrick Stewart's voice was teased in the film's trailer. Although his shocking murder leaves his future in the MCU uncertain, fans were pleased at his cameo and the delivery of one of the best quotes in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

This line serves as a callback to X-Men: Days of Future Past, in which Charles gives hope to himself and strength to keep trying. Besides connecting the two films, the quote also reminds everyone that mistakes need not define people, whether that be Strange, Wanda, or anyone else.

Wanda (Universe 616)

"I blew a hole through the head of the man I loved, and it meant NOTHING."

Scarlet Witch in the MCU

Wanda's change in character may seem drastic after the end of WandaVision, but further analysis of all the grief she has endured, along with her ongoing corruption by the Darkhold, offers some justification for her villainy. Even if her behavior may be unacceptable, it is not completely without merit given all the times Wanda has broken everyone's hearts in the MCU.

This quote from Wanda proves just that. While Strange or any other hero may try and sympathize with Wanda, the truth is she has had to bear unfathomable pain and loss in ways many of them have not. Although this quote does not absolve her of her sins, it does put her actions in perspective.

Captain Carter (Universe 838)

"I could do this all day."

Peggy Carter pointing a gun at someone in Captain America: The First Avenger.

From the first episode of What If...?, Captain Peggy Carter has been a well-received character within the multiverse. Her subtly different shield, empowering personality and overall charisma make her a worthy opponent for the most beloved Captain America variant out there.

Despite their differences, this line undoubtedly connects Steve's Cap to Peggy's, reminding audiences of their similar causes and also their undying connection. It also evidently serves as fan service, continuing the beloved Steve Rogers' legacy despite his apparent departure from the MCU.
