Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness fan art considers what John Krasinski would look like as Captain America and Tom Cruise as Iron Man. The upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe movie is the sequel to 2016's Doctor Strange. The film was an exciting departure for Marvel, delving into the mystical side of the comics. The movie's visuals were praised, as was Benedict Cumberbatch's performance as the title character. Considering the success of Doctor Strange, it makes sense a sequel is on the way. Cumberbatch will reprise his role, but original director Scott Derrickson won't be back. Instead, Sam Raimi will be at the helm, a choice Derrickson supported.

At this point, the story of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness largely remains a mystery. However, it will tie into the Disney+ shows Marvel is currently working on. The first, WandaVision, will release later this year. It's expected to have the largest impact on Doctor Strange 2, as Elizabeth Olsen, who plays Scarlet Witch, will appear in both. It's likely the events of WandaVision will give viewers an idea of what to expect in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Since many aspects of the movie are unknown at this time, some are hoping for an alternate version of the MCU to be shown, such as one with Krasinski as Captain America and Cruise as Iron Man. It's long been believed both actors were in the running for the parts before Chris Evans and Robert Downey Jr. were cast. Artist ApexForm recently imagined what Krasinski and Cruise would look like as Captain America and Iron Man, specifically in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Check out the image below:

This isn't the first time fans have envisioned them as the iconic Marvel heroes. Both Krasinski and Cruise have featured in MCU deepfake videos, while other artists have imagined what they would look like as Captain America and Iron Man as well. The actors have addressed their connections to the characters in the past, with Cruise revealing he was "not close" to being cast as Iron Man. Krasinski has discussed Captain America more often, but clearly has no hard feelings about missing out on the role. In fact, earlier this year, he shared he still jokes with Evans about it.

It's hard to say at this point what Marvel has planned for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, including if it will involve alternate versions of Captain America and Iron Man. If this idea does come to pass, casting Krasinski and Cruise would be good for multiple reasons. One, both are major movie stars that could bring non-MCU fans to the film. Two, for those who do know the franchise well, it would be a fun nod to the casting that could have been. Of course, it would hinge on Cruise and Krasinski's interest in appearing, which isn't a foregone conclusion. Either way, this fan art should give audiences some idea of what a Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness movie would look like with two of Hollywood's biggest stars.
