One MCU spinoff was set up in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness which could connect two completely disconnected Marvel projects. Multiverse of Madness saw Doctor Strange and America Chavez partner up and travel through various realities in an effort to stop the Scarlet Witch from causing multiversal mayhem. Aside from introducing the idea of incursions, another reality's Illuminati team, and the Scarlet Witch's descent into villainy, Multiverse of Madness secretly laid the foundations for the adaptation of one of Marvel Comics' most recent storylines.

The concept of the multiverse was introduced in the MCU's Phase 4, and is set to become even more prominent as the Multiverse Saga progresses. This also creates the opportunity for Marvel Studios to connect MCU properties to some projects that exist outside their shared universe, a point which will soon be proven with the debut of Deadpool and Wolverine in the MCU during Deadpool 3, making the move from Fox's X-Men franchise. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness might have teased a connection to another film from Fox's superhero universe, as well as setting up a bright future for sorcerers and magic users in the MCU's future.

Multiverse Of Madness Set Up A Strange Academy Spinoff

Marvel Studios has recently been relishing in their production of spinoffs, with the likes of Agatha: Coven of Chaos, Vision Quest, Echo, and more all in development. Now, the perfect spinoff to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness might have been set up, which could see the introduction of the Strange Academy into the MCU. The Strange Academy debuted in Marvel Comics' 2020 series, Strange Academy #1, which saw the founding of a school for young people from many worlds, who Doctor Strange trains in the ways of the Mystic Arts.

The Strange Academy has already been teased in the MCU, as the final moments of Multiverse of Madness see America Chavez join other students at Kamar-Taj to learn sorcery. A mastery of the Mystic Arts will make Chavez an incredibly powerful superhero, which is also something that can apply to several other heroes in the MCU, hinting at the potential inclusion of the Strange Academy. After the devastation caused by the Scarlet Witch, and with Doctor Strange currently off-world on a new adventure with Clea, who debuted in Multiverse of Madness' post-credits scene, the Strange Academy might be the perfect way to repopulate the MCU with magic users.

Strange Academy Can Connect New Mutants & Werewolf By Night

Marvel Studios have already been confirmed to be harking back to Fox's now-defunct X-Men franchise, especially with the introduction of Wolverine and Deadpool in the MCU's Phase 6. The idea of the multiverse could also introduce one character from The New Mutants, as Illyana Rasputin, a.k.a. Magik, was a faculty member at the Strange Academy. Anya Taylor-Joy portrayed Magik in The New Mutants, a mutant who has powerful sorcery powers, while also being able to summon the Soulsword and travel using teleportation discs. She has been noted as one of Marvel's most powerful female heroes, so it would be great to see her introduced to the MCU proper.

As well as potentially bringing Magik to the MCU, a Strange Academy spinoff could develop the story of Man-Thing, who first appeared in Marvel Studios' first Special Presentation, Werewolf by Night. 2022's Halloween special introduced Man-Thing alongside Jack Russell, a.k.a. the Werewolf by Night, and has left many wondering where the strange floral creature would be appearing next in the MCU. Man-Thing's command over a mysterious kind of magic makes him perfect to become a faculty member at the Strange Academy, and he even shares recent storylines with Magik, as Man-Thing joins her strike team in the fight against the villainous Harrower.

A Strange Academy Spinoff Can Expand MCU Magic Stories & Characters

A Strange Academy spinoff in the MCU can introduce a huge array of new characters to the franchise, who could have major roles in upcoming Marvel Studios projects. As well as featuring faculty members including the Ancient One, the Scarlet Witch, and Brother Voodoo, who could debut in the MCU soon, the Strange Academy can introduce several young heroes into the MCU who could easily find themselves fighting alongside the likes of the Young Avengers. Doyle Dormammu, Alvi Brorson, and Guslaug already have connections to previous MCU projects, so it's not impossible to imagine them making their debut appearances in live-action soon.

The introduction of the Strange Academy in the MCU would also set up some new and interesting storylines that the franchise hasn't yet explored. The majority of the Strange Academy's stories in Marvel Comics take on a coming-of-age format, which is a genre that Marvel Studios hasn't really touched, but was tried by Fox with the release of The New Mutants. The Strange Academy also, at one point, find themselves escaping to the Dark Dimension, which has been featured in both Doctor Strange and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, so it would make sense for this young team of new heroes to make their way to the MCU.
