A new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness LEGO set teases the main characters fighting the film's rumored villain, Shuma-Gorath. Marvel Studios has spent the last five years developing a Doctor Strange sequel starring Benedict Cumberbatch. It has gone through plenty of changes during this time, as Sam Raimi took over as director following Scott Derrickson's exit. The movie also evolved to become a magical team-up adventure that heavily deals with the multiverse and includes characters like Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Wong (Benedict Wong), and the Marvel Cinematic Universe debut of America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez).

The changes to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have also greatly changed who the expected villain will be. Derrickson's original plan for the sequel would've seen Nightmare become the main antagonist, while Baron Mordo (Chiwetel Ejiofor) remained part of the story after Raimi joined. There has also been great speculation that Scarlet Witch could be the true villain as she harnesses the Darkhold and her Chaos Magic to try and find her kids after WandaVision. Of course, many believe that an evil force will manipulate her, with speculation ranging from Mephisto to Chthon or Shuma-Gorath.

Although Marvel Studios is still months away from releasing Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in theaters, the many delays to it have not stopped all phases of merchandising. Now, 1414falconfan on Instagram has shared the box of a new Doctor Strange 2 LEGO set. It includes a tease of Doctor Strange, Wong, and America Chavez fighting a giant, one-eyed, tentacled creature - who the box simply refers to as Gargantos. Despite the resemblance to Marvel's magical villain Shuma-Gorath, who has long been rumored to be the sequel's villain, Gargantos is the name of a sea monster with connections to Namor. However, Gargantos isn't a magical threat in the comics, so the MCU could be giving this name to Shuma-Gorath.

This isn't the first time merchandise has teased Shuma-Gorath's involvement in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. A puzzle surfaced online at the start of November that showed Doctor Strange fighting Shuma-Gorath by himself. If both pieces of merchandise are accurate representations of the sequel, there is a chance that this Doctor Strange 2 LEGO set is an extension of the encounter previously teased. Whether or not this is the same fight, it is further evidence that rumors of Shuma-Gorath's major role in the sequel are true. If this is meant to be Gargantos and not Shuma-Gorath, then the sequel becomes a bit more confusing to piece together.

Assuming Shuma-Gorath is the villain, the creature is an exciting and weird choice to be Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' villain. The LEGO set teases it takes Strange, Wong, and America Chavez to fight Doctor Strange 2's kaiju villain, and it is quite interesting that Scarlet Witch isn't shown at all. It also will potentially raise questions about Strange's power levels in the MCU. Marvel's What If...? seemed to include its evil Sorcerer Supreme easily defeating Shuma-Gorath, but the main version of the sorcerer might not handle the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness villain as easily. In any case, the power and scale that comes with Shuma-Gorath will hopefully be on full display once the first trailer arrives.
