Update: Doctor Strange 2 releases on Disney+ on June 22, 2022 and we exclusively debuted the Blu-ray release date, cover art and steelbook.

As the film crosses new box offie milestones, the Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness streaming release date has reportedly been revealed. The latest chapter in the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues the story threads from Loki season 1, Spider-Man: No Way Home and WandaVision as Elizabeth Olsen's Wanda Maximoff has become corrupted by the Darkhold in her quest to be reunited with her children, Billy and Tommy. Wanda sets off in pursuit of America Chavez to steal her powers to travel the multiverse, requiring Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange to step up and protect the young hero.

Alongside Cumberbatch and Olsen, the cast for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness sees the MCU returns of Benedict Wong, Michael Stuhlbarg and Rachel McAdams as well as the MCU debuts of Xochitl Gomez as America, Patrick Stewart as a Professor X variant and Charlize Theron as Clea. Helmed by Sam Raimi and penned by Loki creator Michael Waldron, the film has received generally positive reviews for Raimi's direction, the performances of Cumberbatch, Olsen and Gomez and the mind-bending visual effects, though its inconsistent pacing has received criticism. Despite a major drop in its second weekend, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has mostly dominated at the box office.

Less than a month after it first came to theaters, Pop Culture Leftovers has brought word that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will reportedly begin streaming in June. The Twitter account reports the news with a screenshot from the Germany version of Disney+, which indicates that the MCU sequel will begin streaming along with a making-of featurette on June 22. At the time of writing, no official streaming date has been announced by other Disney+ regional accounts. See the reported reveal below:

It should be noted that not only have no other Disney+ accounts confirmed the reported date, but that the original Instagram post from Disney+ Germany stating that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness begins streaming in late June has been deleted. Though it may seem surprising that a movie of the Doctor Strange sequel's magnitude would begin streaming so soon, it does fall in line with some of the House of Mouse's recent blockbuster releases making their way to streaming platforms, as both Death on the Nile and The King's Man began streaming just over a month after hitting theaters. Additionally, fellow MCU titles Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings and Eternals arrived on Disney+ two months after premiering on the big screen.

Moreover, given both Lightyear and Thor: Love and Thunder are set to hit theaters in late June and early July, it's understandable that Disney would feel confident in their domination of the box office continuing without Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness continuing a theatrical-exclusive run. Reports of the film's streaming date comes on the heels of the sequel having crossed $803 million at the global box office, surpassing the Robert Pattinson-led The Batman to become the highest-grossing film of 2022 thus far. While audiences await confirmation no the film's reported streaming date, they can still catch Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness in theaters now.
