Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness producer Kevin Feige states that the Sorcerer Supreme will not be the only main character to confront different versions of themself in the film. The newest MCU project appears to be one of the most expansive, possibly even surpassing Infinity War and Endgame in terms of scale due to the unlimited possibilities of the Multiverse and the many alternate versions of Marvel characters within it. After the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange will enter this treacherous new realm to confront a mysterious threat.

Even though previous MCU films have teased the concept of the Multiverse, the Doctor Strange sequel will take fans on their deepest dive into the landscape yet, one that could have serious ramifications. Because of the sheer number of different realities, Doctor Strange will have to tread lightly or risk destroying the core MCU dimension. To avoid catastrophe, he enlists the help of several allies, notably America Chavez and the Scarlet Witch, Wanda Maximoff. Strange quickly learns that he not only has to contend with interdimensional beings but other, dangerous versions of himself, a plot point hammered home by the latest Multiverse of Madness poster and trailer.

Featured on that same poster are several different forms of the Scarlet Witch, and in a new Doctor Strange featurette, Feige confirms that there are indeed unique versions of the hero featured in the new film, saying, "[W]e see different versions primarily of Doctor Strange, but we do see other versions of Wanda Maximoff." Feige, stars Elizabeth Olsen and Benedict Cumberbatch, and director Sam Raimi comment about Wanda's powerful status in the film and the character's transition from WandaVision to an adventure with much farther-reaching implications. Check out the featurette below:

WandaVision is the prominent element in the video, and rightly so. Maximoff underwent a critical transformation at the end of the Disney+ series, becoming the Scarlet Witch that comic book fans know and love after sacrificing her family. Multiverse of Madness could see Wanda searching for her kids and redemption for her sins in the process, threads that extend back to WandaVision. And as Raimi says, the Multiverse "gives characters a unique opportunity to meet themselves, to recognize qualities they may have been blind to." Despite Wanda's newfound confidence in her abilities as the Scarlet Witch, she still carries so much pain within herself—meeting other versions of herself could allow her to confront that pain more directly.

While Wanda has the opportunity to right those wrongs and eventually reunite with her kin, her fractured nature also means that the Scarlet Witch may break down even further. And with the introduction of Professor X to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, encountering different versions of herself could inevitably lead to untold realities, like a desperate Scarlet Witch bringing other mutants into the MCU or causing the death(s) of one of her allies. Much like the Multiverse itself, Feige's confirmation leads to several fascinating possibilities for Wanda Maximoff.
