Star Benedict Cumberbatch teases that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will make audiences' heads spin and praises Sam Raimi's work. Cumberbatch returns as the Master of the Mystic Arts alongside Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong as Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Mordo, Rachel McAdams as Christina Palmer and Michael Stuhblarg as Nicodemus West. The long-awaited sequel also marks the Marvel Cinematic Universe debuts of Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez and Patrick Stewart as Professor Charles Xavier, reprising his role from Fox's now-concluded X-Men franchise.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness picks up some time after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home and WandaVision as Stephen Strange continues to grapple with the consequences of opening the doors to the multiverse for the young webslinger. Strange will be confronted by alternate dimension variants of himself, including Defender Strange and Strange Supreme, and a mysterious new adversary that only he and his allies can defeat. Sam Raimi is at the helm of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness with a script from Loki creator Michael Waldron.

On the heels of the new trailer's premiere, Benedict Cumberbatch spoke with Empire to discuss Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The star teased that director Sam Raimi has brought his signature style to the MCU sequel and expressed excitement for audiences to finally see the film. See what Cumberbatch shared below:

A zombie variant of Doctor Strange uses his powers in Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness.

Throughout its rocky development cycle, in which original co-writer/director Scott Derrickson departed due to creative differences, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness has been frequently touted as one of the MCU's most ambitious efforts to date. Olsen has teased that Sam Raimi's direction on the sequel has set it up as the scariest Marvel movie yet, which combined with Cumberbatch's new tease of audiences' heads spinning should build anticipation even further for the film. The star's discussion also falls in line with previous reports of how development changed on the film when the former Spider-Man director was brought on board as he and Waldron elected to start from scratch to find their own shared vision for the story rather than go off of Derrickson and Jade Halley Bartlett's horror foundations.

Audiences have been abuzz with discussions surrounding Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness following the premiere of the new trailer and poster during the Super Bowl. Theories have swirled regarding who may show up in the MCU sequel, namely with the trailer's confirmation that Patrick Stewart is returning as Professor X and the poster hinting at the arrival of Captain Carter from Disney+'s What If...?. Only time will tell what else Raimi and co. have in store to make audiences' heads spin when Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness hits theaters on May 6.
