A new Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness TV spot reveals new footage of Patrick Stewart's Professor X with an X-Men-accurate yellow chair. Since the start of Phase 4, the Multiverse has played a crucial part in the MCU. One of the installments to service this idea was Spider-Man: No Way Home, as Tom Holland's Spider-Man trilogy ended with his Peter Parker uniting with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield's respective iterations of the web-slinger. The Multiverse's chaos isn't stopping there, though, as Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to take the concept to the next level and see Benedict Cumberbatch's hero deal with the consequences of his botched spell.

Taking place after the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange 2 will see the return of Cumberbatch's Stephen Strange as he deals with the Multiverse once again. Directed by Sam Raimi, the MCU sequel will feature even more variants from multiple realities. Amid heavy speculation about several surprise Marvel character cameos in Multiverse of Madness, one confirmed major appearance is none other than Charles Xavier/Professor X, with X-Men star Patrick Stewart returning to portray the iconic mutant once again.

With Multiverse of Madness just one week away from opening in theaters, another look at Stewart's return as Professor X has been revealed. In a new TV spot (via ChaosMoogle) for the highly anticipated sequel, Professor X is once again seen briefly, but in something that should be very familiar to all X-Men fans. While never showing his face, the TV spot does reveal Professor X sitting in his famous, comic book-accurate yellow chair. Check out the new TV spot below:

Like most Marvel Studios projects, those involved with Multiverse of Madness have been staying very quiet about Professor X's involvement. When it comes to Stewart himself, the actor was initially hesitant to confirm that his iconic X-Men character was definitely returning, but eventually spoke about it publicly back in February 2021. While it can't be denied any longer that Charles Xavier is in the Doctor Strange sequel, the question is, which Professor X is Stewart playing? At this point, it's very likely that Multiverse of Madness' Professor X is a variant, rather than the iteration from the original X-Men films.

Professor X's involvement is just one of the big Multiverse aspects that Doctor Strange 2 is tackling. One of the other highly-anticipated appearances is Marvel's Illuminati, as the famous group is getting its MCU introduction in the film. A recent Doctor Strange 2 TV spot also confirmed that What If...?'s Captain Carter will be making her live-action debut as the multiversal alternate version of Captain America. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' multiverse concept means Marvel has endless room to play around with its comic book source material, so its cameo possibilities are truly unlimited. However, making at least one of these confirmed appearances a direct nod to the original Marvel comics in Stewart's Professor X is certainly a good way to get audiences excited.
