Warning: This list contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

The much anticipated Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness introduced audiences to the Illuminati of Earth-838, a group of the most superpowered individuals in that universe who work together to monitor the most pressing threats to Earth and humanity.

While reception toward the Illuminati's role and depiction in the Doctor Strange sequel has been mixed, there's no doubt that the actors who play the group's members are an impressive bunch who have delivered great movie performances over the years. They each have a handful of impressive films that were certified as "fresh" on Rotten Tomatoes.

Rachel McAdams - Christine Palmer

Spotlight (2015) - 97%

Although the 838 Christine Palmer wasn't one of the proper members of the Illuminati, she may as well have earned the final Illuminati chair due to her research into the multiverse on their behalf and for assisting Doctor Strange in helping America Chavez.

The best film of her portrayer, Rachel McAdams, is Spotlight, the 2015 Best Picture winner about the Boston Globe team which in 2003 exposed rampant sexual abuse on the part of Roman Catholic Church clergy. It's an incredibly poignant movie that earned all the acclaim that it received and merits a watch from pretty much every film fan.

Anson Mount - Blackagar Boltagon

The Truth About Tully (2000) - 81%

Anson Mount in The Truth About Tully

When Marvel's Inhumans TV became the worst-reviewed entry in the Marvel Cinematic Universe ever, there was little hope that anyone from that TV show would have a chance at redemption. But Anson Mount was given the chance by Multiverse of Madness to reprise his role, and now warrants speculation about where his Black Bolt could appear next.

Anson Mount's best film for Rotten Tomatoes is The Truth About Tully, also known simply as Tully. The 2000 film is a drama centered around two very different brothers – one of whom, Tully Jr., is played by Mount – who live on their father's Nebraska ranch, and the tribulations of their lives.

Lashana Lynch - Maria Rambeau

No Time To Die (2021) - 83%

Lashana Lynch in tactical gear as Nomi in tactical gear in No Time to Die

Lashana Lynch's Maria Rambeau actually became the Captain Marvel of the 838 universe, creating its own What If...? scenario without having to actually portray any backstory. Viewers are left to fill in the blanks, imagining the specifics of how Captain Marvel could have gone differently in this world.

Lynch's highest-rated Certified Fresh film is last year's No Time to Die, in which she plays the new 007 agent five years after Bond retires from espionage at the beginning of the film. Although the spotlight is on Daniel Craig's final outing as Bond, Lynch delivers a compelling supporting performance that sets up a possible future 007 story.

Hayley Atwell - Peggy Carter

Avengers: Endgame (2019) - 94%

Chris Evans and Hayley Atwell in Avengers Endgame

Hayley Atwell began portraying Peggy Carter 11 years ago, in Captain America: The First Avenger and was such a standout that she received not only her own One-Shot short film, but a whole TV series, both under the title Agent Carter. Thanks to What If...?, her character got to take on the super-soldier serum herself, which provided the basis for her Multiverse of Madness interpretation.

Her appearance three years before, in Avengers: Endgame, allowed the main MCU Peggy Carter and her true love, Steve Rogers, to finally have that promised dance, and to have a future together. She may have been a minor part of the movie, but for Rotten Tomatoes, it's still the actress's best.

John Krasinski - Reed Richards

A Quiet Place (2018) - 96%

Definitely the most notable of the surprise cameos in Multiverse of Madness came with the reveal of John Krasinski as Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic, a fan-casting that had floated around the Internet for years prior to this moment. Plenty of fans clapped in theaters when he made his debut on screen.

Even though Krasinski made his name with The Office, he later went the Jordan Peele route and proved that comedy chops translate well to horror with A Quiet Place. The 2018 horror film in which he co-starred with his wife, Emily Blunt, is a unique entry in the genre and a wonderful directorial effort. Here's hoping he does direct the MCU Fantastic Four movie.

Chiwetel Ejiofor - Karl Mordo

12 Years A Slave (2013) - 95%

Chiwetel Ejiofor as Solomon Northup in 12 Years a Slave

The fact that Chiwetel Ejiofor's original Karl Mordo is only briefly alluded to in Multiverse of Madness was a bit of a disappointment for fans who wanted to see that character's journey return, and who even felt a little deceived by the marketing. But that doesn't take away from Ejiofor's performance in the film.

His best and most acclaimed role ever, though, rightfully comes from his role as Solomon Northup in 12 Years a Slave, based on the real story in which Northup, born a free black man in New York, was abducted and sold into slavery in the South. The Best Picture winner is nothing short of astounding in its drama and its truth.

Patrick Stewart - Charles Xavier

Logan (2017) - 94%

Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart in Logan

Patrick Stewart was an established Shakespeare actor as well as a household name thanks to Star Trek: The Next Generation when he was cast as Professor X in 2000's X-Men. 22 years later, he reprised the role for Multiverse of Madness.

The actor's portrayal of the same character in the searing Logan, however, is what's earned the most love on the movie-rating website. Logan is regarded as one of the best superhero films ever made because of how well it delves into its main characters, including Charles Xavier, and presents an endearing look at family, legacy, and violence.

Benedict Cumberbatch - Stephen Strange

The Power Of The Dog (2021) - 94%

Power of the Dog Benedict Cumberbatch Jesse Plemons

Knowledgeable film fans will know that Doctor Strange actually marked the second-time Benedict Cumberbatch and Chiwetel Ejiofor shared a screen, as Cumberbatch had a supporting role in 12 Years a Slave, as well. His best main role, however, comes from his recent film The Power of the Dog.

In the Netflix Original film, Cumberbatch plays ranch over Phil Burbank as he disapproves of his brother taking in a woman and her son. The film allowed Cumberbatch to rise to new acting heights, and prove that he'll still have plenty to provide as an actor once he retires from portraying Doctor Strange.
