Elizabeth Olsen hints that production will begin for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness around December. After spearheading her own Disney+ project with Paul Bettany's Vision in WandaVision, the actress will reprise her role as Wanda Maximoff for the upcoming Sam Raimi sequel opposite Benedict Cumberbatch.

Originally presented as a villain Avengers: Age of Ultron alongside her brother, Quicksilver/Pietro Maximoff (Aaron Taylor-Johnson), the Avengers eventually embraced Scarlet Witch as one of their allies at the end of the 2015 film, even becoming one of the new members of the team. Wanda has gone through quite a journey over the years which was capped off with the tragedy of having to move forward without Vision after his death at the hands of Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War. As MCU Phase 4 kicks off, the character is set to become one of the most prominent heroes in the franchise, being the only character who's confirmed to play a pivotal part in two different projects.

Speaking with Conde Nast Traveller, the actress revealed that by Christmas time, she would be in London filming for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. While she didn't explicitly reveal whether or not the film would've been shooting for a while by then, it gives a sense of when the project will enter production.

I did a really strange deep-dive into how an American could legally live in the UK and I saw that there’s a retirement visa once you reach 54. I feel as if British people work to live – they don’t live to work, unlike in LA and New York. I am moving back soon to film the sequel to Dr Strange, so I’ll be there for Christmas, just outside London.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

There were previous rumors that Cumberbatch may be in Atlanta, Georgia filming his part for Spider-Man 3 where Doctor Strange is tipped to appear. So far, the actor hasn't been spotted yet, so it's difficult to tell if there's any truth to this speculation; nevertheless, shooting for Marvel Studios and Sony collaboration project is currently in full swing with official images released, not to mention a new set video featuring the wall-crawling hero making doing a high-flying stunt. Assuming that Cumberbatch is indeed partaking in Spider-Man 3, it's safe to say that there will be enough time for him to finish his involvement with the threequel before he officially moves to shoot Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

If this tracks, there will be three Marvel Studios films filming at the start of 2021. At that point, both Spider-Man 3 and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' production will be in full swing, while Taika Waititi's Thor: Love & Thunder will have already kicked off shooting in Australia. That's on top of the MCU/Disney+ shows that are also rumored to begin work sometime soon. All that being said, schedule changes can still be made last-minute depending on the coronavirus situation around the globe.
