Eva Green shoots down rumors about her joining Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, but says that she enjoys the MCU's humor. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as the titular sorcerer, the film will be the second standalone film for the character following Scott Derrickson's 2016 project Doctor Strange. The original helmer recently exited the film, and word has it that Sam Raimi is set to take over it.

The movie was officially announced at last year's Marvel Studios' Hall H Panel at San Diego Comic-Con, but plot specifics are still tightly under wraps. That said, it's confirmed that Doctor Strange 2 will connect to two upcoming Disney+ series - this year's WandaVision and 2021's Loki. Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch will also appear in the sequel, although no word yet if Tom Hiddleston's God of Mischief will also factor in the movie. In conjunction to that, it's uncertain if Cumberbatch will reprise his role in either of the said small screen projects. With the movie still in the early stages, interest is focused on any casting announcements. Fans have had their picks for potential new characters, including Green, but it doesn't seem like they'll get what they want - at least for now.

Speaking with Total Film (via Games Radar) for Proxima, Green was asked about rumors that she's set to join Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. The actress denied rumors that she's up for a role in the MCU - although she notes that she enjoys the franchise's brand of humor and is interested in seeing the Cate Shortland and Scarlett Johansson film, Black Widow.

“Me? No! Not that I know of. Not at all,” she says, when TF asks if she’s involved in the upcoming Doctor Strange sequel. She does admire the Marvel brand, though. “I like the humour in them. I saw the trailer for Black Widow... I’d like to see that one.”

Eva Green as Miss Peregrine in Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children

With Rachel McAdams's Christine Palmer not returning for Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness, the public is theorizing which new characters could be introduced in the film. Casting reports suggest that Marvel Studios is looking to introduce Clea since the project is looking for lead actresses aged between 20 and 40. It's worth noting, though, there's no concrete indication that they're indeed looking specifically for the said character. In any case, considering Green's acting range, it won't be difficult to find a role for her in the sequel assuming that Kevin Feige and his team want her to join the MCU.

Aside from Green's casting denial, it's also interesting how the actress was vocal about liking MCU's brand of humor. Wanting to see Black Widow makes sense considering that it puts the franchise's first female hero front and center, but specifically praising the film series' comedy is quite rare. If anything, it's a cause for criticism as naysayers argue that the MCU is too lighthearted, and oftentimes fail to land emotional scenes. This goes to show that despite backlash about how the universe feels too watered down, there are people out there who genuinely enjoys the franchise's quippy and oftentimes sarcastic humor - which Strange exemplifies given his personality. Perhaps this could lure Green into Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness in the event that Marvel Studios reaches out to her for a part.
