Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch’s new costumes were revealed in official promotional art for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The original Doctor Strange helmer Scott Derrickson was set to return to the director's chair for the sequel, but he left the project in early 2020 due to creative differences. Marvel subsequently brought on the Tobey Maguire-Spider-Man trilogy director and horror aficionado Sam Raimi.

Since then, the sequel has been highly anticipated not only for what Raimi will lend to the project directorially, but for what implications this will have regarding the mysterious multiverse. The sequel is set to bring back Benedict Cumberbatch’s sorcerer Doctor Strange alongside Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch who is still fresh off her solo MCU series WandaVision. This will act as the first team-up between the two Marvel heroes.

Now, new promotional art confirms that production on the Doctor Strange sequel has wrapped. The Twitter user DrStrangeUpdate unearthed the art posted by Adam Khan, which also provides the first look at Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch’s new costumes. Based on this look, Stephen Strange’s new suit appears more comic-accurate and Wanda’s now has full sleeves. Some other interesting details to note is that Strange still has the Eye of Agamotto, and based on the star-shaped portals in the background, this art seems to confirm they will be traveling through the multiverse using America Chavez's powers, which based on the sequel’s title, is wholly expected.

This promotional art provides a sneak peek at not only Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, but the film’s other two protagonists in Wong and newcomer America Chavez (Xochitl Gomez), Marvel’s first major Latinx hero. Considering her ability to channel the multiverse, Chavez will likely prove to be crucial to the sequel’s plot. It has also been speculated that the film’s main villain Shuma-Gorath will pursue Chavez because of these very powers.

Another detail in this art with exciting implications includes the star-shaped portals, which teases the film’s multiverse-centric narrative, though much else about the plot remains a mystery. It’s also unclear if this art is even an accurate depiction of what their costumes will look like in the film. Though they are only marginally different than what they have donned before, fans are likely elated to see these four protagonists' costumes in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness so far ahead of its release in March of 2022.
