Warning: SPOILERS for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

An official image from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness shows Clea (Charlize Theron) and Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) united. Directed by Sam Raimi, the long-awaited sequel to Doctor Strange surprised audiences in many different ways. The possibilities that exist with the multiverse allowed the film to feature plenty of unexpected cameos. While many fan theories turned out to be incorrect, the surprises continued all the way through to Doctor Strange 2's post-credits scene and the debut of Charlize Theron's Clea.

After starring in hit films like Mad Max: Fury Road and the Fast & Furious franchise, Theron has now added the Marvel Cinematic Universe to her impressive filmography. Her debut as Clea in Multiverse of Madness came as a big surprise, and the Academy Award-winning actress hasn't wasted any time showing her enthusiasm. Theron had fun teasing her new MCU role on social media just after the film debuted, and has since started to share some new looks at Clea's appearance in Doctor Strange 2.

Thanks to Marvel Studios lifting the spoiler ban on Multiverse of Madness, Theron has quickly provided fans with closer looks at her new MCU character. She originally shared just a single behind-the-scenes photo of her Clea makeup, but the actress also shared a second photo just on Instagram. The seemingly official Doctor Strange 2 photo shows Clea and Doctor Strange unite in the streets of New York. Check it out below by clicking on the second image in Theron's post:

Clea and Doctor Strange's team up featured here is pulled directly from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' mid-credits scene. The scene shows Clea finding Doctor Strange so he can help her with a multiverse incursion. Clea then opens up a portal to the Dark Dimension, where she comes from, so the two of them can attempt to prevent the destruction of one or two universes. Doctor Strange agrees to go with Clea after showing off his newly acquired third eye. And since the credits end with a confirmation that Strange will return, Doctor Strange 2 sets up Theron's Clea to be right alongside him when that happens.

With Marvel Studios allowing Theron to share more about her role as Clea in Doctor Strange 2, it might not be too long before her MCU future is clarified. An announcement for Doctor Strange 3 has not yet been made, but it is certainly possible given this credits tease and the sequel's massive box office performance. Assuming another Doctor Strange sequel happens, it would be quite surprising if Clea doesn't join Doctor Strange on his next adventure. In any case, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness should be the first of many MCU appearances for Charlize Theron.
