In Doctor Strange In The Multiverse of Madness, fans are introduced to Earth-838's variant of Dr. Christine Palmer, who analyzes multiversal threats for the Baxter Foundation. The variant is a little different from the Earth-616 version who is more focused on medical work. But even though Palmer is an important character in the MCU, she rarely appears in the comics.

The Marvel pages are instead dominated by other iconic doctors, most of whom are yet to appear in the MCU but are definitely guaranteed to show up in the near future. Most of these doctors are on par with Doctor Strange (if not better) when it comes to medical abilities and special abilities, but who exactly are they?

Cecilia Reyes

Cecilia Reyes uses her powers in X-Men comics.

Soon after discovering she is a mutant, Cecilia gets an invite from Professor X to join the X-Men but she opts to keep her abilities a secret so she can continue with her medical career. Sadly, she gets fired from her job and reluctantly joins the X-Men.

Cecilia's presence has been very beneficial to the entire mutant family. Thanks to her familiarity with both human and mutant genetics, she has helped save many lives. Many heroes wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for her, as some of her biggest achievements include removing a bomb that had been implanted into Cyclops' chest, healing Daredevil's fatal wounds, and eliminating the Legacy Virus from Pyro's body.

Donald Blake

Donald Blake Thor

Unhappy about Thor's personality, Odin figures it's time for him to learn humility, so he sends him to Earth in the guise of the medical student, Donald Blake. After finishing his studies at Havard, Blake starts running his own private practice in New York.

Through Blake, fans get to see a unique version of Thor that is more concerned with earthly affairs than those of Asgard. An extremely skilled surgeon, he brings much difference to the world by treating ailments that other doctors had failed to eradicate. Blake also gets to have one of the most wholesome relationships in Marvel comics when he dates the nurse, Jane Foster.

Karla Sofen

Moonstone using her powers and grimacing in Marvel Comics

A psychiatrist, Sofen prefers manipulating her patients, causing them to be fearful, rather than hopeful. She later manipulates the first Moonstone, Lloyd Block into handing over his powers to her.

Sofen has an incredible run as both a main villain and henchwoman. During her stints as a member Baron Zemo's Masters of Evil and Norman Osborne's Thunderbolts, she is shown to be the most competent baddie, almost defeating the Avengers on several occasions. And she gets to have her own mind-blowing schemes too, such as when she takes over a health facility to work on a drug to raise the dead.

Anthony Druid

Doctor Druid in Marvel comics

Druid specializes in psychiatry but is also known to practice Druidic magic. He starts out as a hero before going on to be the tyrannical ruler of Weirdworld.

Druid's character development is the most remarkable thing about him. First starting out as a student at Havard, he not only gets to learn sorcery, but also becomes a member of the Avengers. For the most part, Dr. Druid is shown to match Doctor Strange in terms of power and influence. Though shocking, his villainous turn leads to many great storylines where he counsels villains and helps them pose a greater challenge to Earth's mightiest heroes.

Victoria Montesi

Victoria Montesi screaming and holding her head

Victoria is born when her father Vittorio Montesi makes a deal with Chthon to have him sire a child for him. After finding out about her lineage, she rejects the teachings of sorcery, opting to become a doctor.

As a doctor and humanitarian, Victoria does a lot to change the world. And when she's not busy treating people, Victoria tries her best to shake off her tag as the Daughter of Cthon. Thanks to her, the Darkhold Redeemers group is formed. Among her best attributes is that she's totally incorruptible even when subjected to the powers of the Darkhold.

Leonard Samson

Leonard Samson in Marvel comics

A psychologist, Samson first comes to the Marvel limelight when he offers to cure General "Thunderbolt" Ross's daughter from her crystalline form. Additionally, he makes attempts to cure Bruce Banner of the psychological condition that keeps transforming him into Hulk.

Superheroes need good mental health too, and throughout his time in Marvel comics, Samson has established himself as the go-to psychologist that people with powers visit whenever they have personal problems. And even though he has had his villainous moments, he mostly remains good. Samson's own abilities are commendable too. Over time, he has acquired the ability to self-resurrect, making him close to immortal.

Hank McCoy (Beast)

X-Men's Hank McCoy aka Beast prancing into action

Hank is known for being among the First Class of the X-Men. Described as one of the 8 super-geniuses of the world, he has 6 PhDs and he is X-Men's resident medical expert.

As a doctor, Hank's achievements remain unrivaled. He can be proud of the fact that he is the first person to discover the cause of the mutation. Even more impressive is that he helps rid the world of a major disease that is the Legacy Virus. And as a hero, he has just about every power needed to fight foes.

Linda Carter

Night Nurse Linda Carter Marvel Doctor Strange

Carter is introduced as a nurse but soon becomes a physician and opens a private clinic in Manhattan's Chinatown. As a doctor, she only attends to superheroes.

Carter's work is essential since superheroes cannot just go anywhere for treatment. As such she gets to form some of the best friendships in Marvel comics after healing characters such as Daredevil and Captain America. And she isn't just about the scalpel and syringe. Carter is known to be quite good at investigative work too and she always makes sure to pass on the information to the heroes.

Faiza Hussain

Faiza Hussain Excalibur

Faiza is first introduced during the Skrull Invasion as she treats survivors of the attacks. She soon comes into possession of King Arthur's fabled sword, becoming the hero known as Excalibur.

Since she has the power to disassemble anything, Faiza's work as a doctor is much easier. She can literally see what's wrong inside the bodies of her patients without having to manually conduct surgery. Moreover, she often earns the respect of fans because of her high moral code. Even when bad deeds need to be done for the greater good, she can be expected to decline.

Steven Strange

Doctor Strange gives Valkyrie a sword in Marvel Comics.

As one of the strongest Avengers, Doctor Strange is the only one on the list that needs no introduction. He starts out as a neurosurgeon, but when a car accident damages his hands, he gets into the world of magic and becomes the Sorcerer Supreme of Earth-616.

As a doctor, he is more skilled than any other, but he is not as likable. He is said to be very arrogant, a trait that even causes his fiancee, Madeleine Revell, to leave him. It's when he becomes a hero that Strange really redeems himself. Not only does he get to save many lives as a member of the Avengers, but he also does a great job of preventing the world from being consumed by sorcery.
