Stephen King responds to the positive reviews for Doctor Sleep. Stephen King's novel Doctor Sleep was published in 2013 and now five years later, his book has finally being adapted for the big screen. The movie focuses on an adult Danny Torrance (Ewan McGregor), who protects a young girl from a sinister group known as The True Knot.

Stanley Kubrick's The Shining is often considered one of the best horror movies ever made, so when Mike Flanagan signed on to direct Doctor Sleep, he had quite a challenge ahead of him. Thankfully for Flanagan and Warner Bros, Doctor Sleep has gotten stellar reviews thus far. The film hasn't started it's wide release just yet, but now that Warner Bros has lifted the review embargo for social media, early Doctor Sleep reviews have begun flooding the internet. The Shining sequel has mainly gotten positive reviews, with people praising the performances of McGregor and Rebecca Ferguson (Rose the Hat).

After seeing the reviews for Doctor Sleep, King took to Twitter to share his enthusiasm about the positive reviews, as well as congratulate Flanagan and Warner Bros. King's full tweet can be seen below:

Doctor Sleep isn't the first novel from King to be adapted for the big screen and it certainly won't be the last. There are actually several of King's books being adapted for movies and TV shows, including Mile 81, Salem's Lotand Rest StopDoctor Sleep is the most recent book to be adapted, but 2019 has already seen three movies based on King's books. The first movie was Pet Sematary, which opened in April to mixed reviews. Next was IT: Chapter Two followed by In the Tall Grass, which was released exclusively on Netflix this month.

While several people have already gotten the chance to see the film, even more people will get to see it early this Wednesday when Fandango hosts their VIP early access screening of Doctor Sleep. More reviews will come out at that point and regardless of how others react to the film, King's opinion will be highly regarded within the horror community for obvious reasons. King has gone on record before stating how much he hates Kubrick's The Shining, but it's likely that King likes the sequel more since Doctor Sleep is said to be faithful to the bookDoctor Sleep is also said to do a good job of being a sequel to The Shining book and movie, which is likely to please moviegoers and book worms alike.
