Warning! Spoilers for All-Out Avengers #2 by Marvel ComicsDoctor Doom is somehow claiming Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, and becoming worthy alongside the Avengers to take on one of the darkest versions of himself in what's set to be an epic clash. In a new preview for All-Out Avengers #2, Doctor Doom wields Mjolnir and Captain America's shield, as the villain's most heroic and dark side seems to get split in two, leading him to battle with Earth's Mightiest Heroes in Latveria to stop himself.

Marvel's new All-Out Avengers series is an in-continuity comic featuring the fast-break adventures of the universe's greatest heroes, with each chapter diving directly into action without explanation or complicated backstories. Issue one featured Captain Marvel being transformed into one of her most horrifying forms, leading her to battle the Avengers in a nearly deadly fight. Issue two is upping the insanity, as Doctor Doom is seen wielding Mjolnir and becoming worthy as he takes on a dark version of himself alongside the Avengers. But the question remains, how is that even possible?

In a brand-new preview of All-Out Avengers #2 by Derek Landy, Greg Land, Jay Leisten, Frank D'Armata, and VC's Cory Petit from Marvel Comics, the comic opens with a shocking scene as Doctor Doom wields Mjolnir and Captain America's shield as he leads She-Hulk, Iron Man and the Avengers into battle. They take on an even darker version of Doctor Doom, who refers to themselves as the "one true Doom," begging the Avengers to attack him. Doom battles Doom, as Earth's Mightiest Heroes seem to have no answer to beating their deadly opponent.

How Is Doctor Doom Worthy, and Why Are There Two Of Him?

There is no explanation of how Doctor Doom has become worthy of Mjolnir and where the other dark version of the usual villain has come from. However, it could be explained in a couple of ways. First, the usual Doctor Doom may have somehow been split into two different forms, the most heroic and most evil versions of the character. It would explain why each Doom represents such extremes. It's also possible the story takes place somewhere in the Multiverse, and Doom and the Avengers aren't the Earth-616 versions readers are used to seeing.

Regardless of how it's ultimately explained, seeing Doctor Doom becoming worthy of Mjolnir, a hammer few have ever lifted, and fighting alongside the Avengers is one of the most unexpected sights in recent Marvel Comics history. Readers will find out just how Doctor Doom became worthy and wielded Thor's hammer, Mjolnir, when All-Out Avengers #2 by Marvel Comics arrives in comic book stores on Wednesday.
