Mark Hamill playing Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi is a given, but who is the actor's other character Dobbu Scay? Mark Hamill has been open about his initial reluctance to rejoin the Star Wars saga when it was first announced Disney was planning a new series of films. He felt - understandably - it would be near impossible to top the original trilogy. In his mind, he also had an escape plan if fans were disappointed he didn't return since it felt the studio could never convince Harrison Ford to reprise Han Solo.

Ford has been famously a little grumpy about reflecting on his time with the series, but he joined up pretty quickly for J.J. Abrams' Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens. With both Ford and Carrie Fisher reprising their roles, Mark Hamill decided to sign on to. With the plot of The Force Awakens centering entirely around the search of a missing Luke, Hamill didn't have much of a role in the project and only appears in a wordless, though emotional, cameo in the last scene.

To say the portrayal of Luke Skywalker in Star Wars: The Last Jedi proved divisive would be underselling the response of some fans. They felt the character exiling himself and turning his back on those who need his help betrayed his character, whilst others felt it was an intriguing development to see a broken Luke. Hamill was, of course, typically great in the role, selling the sadness at the core of the character, and making a heroic comeback in the finale. What audiences may not realize is the actor actually plays two roles in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, including that of drunken alien gambler Dobbu Scay.

Star Wars 8 The Last Jedi BB8 and Dobbu Scay Canto Bight

Dobbu Scay is encountered in Canto Casino, where Rose and Finn encounter Benicio Del Toro's "slicer" DJ. Scay tries to play BB-8 like a slot machine since he's too drunk to tell the difference. Scay is later seen overjoyed as fathier stampied through the casino during Finn and Rose's escape, knocking coins everywhere which he quickly snatches up.

There's not much known about Star Wars: The Last Jedi's Dobbu Scay outside of his brief appearance. He's small in stature, has prominent sideburns and his species isn't revealed. He's also named after the movie's editor Bob Ducsay (Godzilla: King Of The Monsters). Hamill himself is a famous voice actor, with his take on the Joker from Batman: The Animated Series considered iconic, and he invests this quick role with a lot of character.
