Ubisoft's The Division 2 is getting an all-new wave of content later this year, despite the previous update being believed to be the final one. No concrete details have been given by the developers quite yet but it sounds like there will be multiple updates later this year, as well as patches to fix existing issues plaguing the game.

The Division 2 released three years ago but the game has been incredibly well-supported since with a plethora of updates, expansion packs, and other forms of content such as a Resident Evil crossover. The Ubisoft title has grown to become one of the studio's more popular releases thanks to how well-supported it is, and now players know it's likely this will continue at least until the start of 2022 as the team gears up for more content.

Ubisoft revealed via Twitter that new content updates are in early development and will release sometime in 2021. "Today, we are thrilled to confirm that there will be additional content for The Division 2 released later this year! It is your continuous passion and support which enables us to continue to build upon The Division 2 experience, and we cannot thank you enough for that," reads the post from Ubisoft. The studio also noted that it won't be too long before the team will talk more about the new content.

Ubisoft also acknowledged that there have been issues with the PlayStation 5 version of the game. People noticed that The Division 2 was missing notable effects like volumetric fog and more, making it a less-detailed world than its last-gen counterpart. The team is already hard at work on fixing the issue. "An investigation into the crashes affecting many of you is ongoing with the highest priority, and we are also close to finding a fix for the missing volumetric fog and screen space reflections on PlayStation 5. We will let you know when we have a date for both fixes," said Ubisoft.

It's a bit surprising Ubisoft is continuing to support The Division 2 with new content three years after launch, especially as developer Massive Entertainment has two other major projects on the horizon. The studio is currently hard at work on a brand-new game based on James Cameron's Avatar films as well as a new single-player Star Wars game which was revealed last month. Ubisoft consists of many developers under its large umbrella, so it's likely there are other teams chipping away on both these updates and assisting in the production of the other two games. It has been confirmed that Avatar will release prior to the Star Wars game, which is expected to be a couple years away. As for The Division 2, players will likely be able to find out more soon.
