Disneyland Paris is currently closed due to coronavirus, but that hasn’t stopped the park from doing its part as they recently donated 15 tons of food supplies to local communities affected by the pandemic. The news comes as Disney theme parks have shuttered their gates worldwide in an effort to help prevent the further spread of the Covid-19 strain of coronavirus. So far, the pandemic virus has affected nearly every aspect of the entertainment industry from postponing film releases and shutting down TV productions, to suspending or cancelling professional and collegiate sporting events.

Today, Disney made the announcement that Disneyland Paris had donated over 15 tons of surplus food to local and national charitable organizations including Secours Populaire Francais and Restaurants Du Coeur. The massive donation was overseen by many of the park’s cast members as they sorted through the theme park's food supplies for any fresh perishable products, including fruits, vegetables, and dairy products that might have otherwise gone to waste during the park's closure.

The theme park’s generous donation isn’t the only news of an organization sending a positive message during a bad situation. Sportsnet has reported that the NHL’s Montreal Canadians have also joined the donation efforts, giving away 13,000 lbs of food, originally set to be served at Canadiens’ home games, to the food bank Moisson Montreal.

Unfortunately for Disney, the news out of Disneyland Paris is one of the few positive stories in regards to the coronavirus. After the pandemic forced them to move the release dates of several high-profile films, it’s also been reported that Disney is losing $20 million a day with the closure of their U.S. theme parks. The sweeping effects of the coronavirus have some suggesting Disney stock could fall enough to be bought out by a larger company like Apple.
