Fans will get to interact with Doctor Strange and Spider-Man as the two Marvel heroes, among others, will soon debut in new Disney Parks and Resorts as part of the Global Avengers Initiative projects for the House of Mouse's theme parks around the globe. Following the reveal of early details for Marvel Super Hero Land, scheduled to open its doors in Disney's California Adventure in 2020, the Marvel mania continues in various other locations including Hong Kong and Paris.
Disney continues to expand its brand outside of the big and small screen, this time, via their parks, which are offering fans a new way to experience the magic of the MCU. Capitalizing on the popularity of Marvel characters and superhero properties in general, the House of Mouse is branching into other channels where fan clamor for these IPs is met, including making them the center of some of their latest theme park attractions.
New details regarding the Global Avengers Initiative have been released in the official Disney Parks Blog by Scott Drake, the Creative Executive of Marvel Global Portfolio. In the post, he said that as the creative executive for Walt Disney Imagineering’s Global Marvel Portfolio, he and his team are working with both Marvel Studios and Entertainment branches for brand new superhero-themed experiences and attractions at various Disney Parks and Resorts locations.
Similar to the MCU, the interconnected stories told across Disney Parks around the world were kicked off with Iron Man in Hong Kong Disneyland's Iron Man Experience, where guests are able to fight HYDRA operatives alongside Tony Stark. Next year, Ant-Man and Wasp will arrive in the same location, offering fans the opportunity to combat Arnim Zola and his evil HYDRA bots in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle. Meanwhile, in Disney California Adventure park, Guardians of the Galaxy - Mission: BREAKOUT has been allowing patrons to help everybody's favorite cosmic heroes escape the Collector's Fortress. On top of these previously announced attractions, experiences centering on Doctor Strange and Spider-Man among others will soon arrive in both Disney California Adventure park and Disneyland Paris. Fan-favorite heroes such as Captain America and Black Panther can also appear any time for a great surprise for visitors.
Aside from the budding interconnected Marvel-themed attractions across Disney Parks and Resorts locations around the globe, fans are also excited about the already-in-development Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge, a brand new park dedicated to the famed space opera scheduled to open next year in two locations: Disneyland Park at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, California and Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World in Bay Lake, Florida. A brand new hotel will also rise in conjunction with the galactic attraction for a more immersive experience for those who don't think a day trip is enough to fully explore the upcoming feature.
