A real life prince created the ultimate marriage proposal via a clever reworking of an iconic scene from the Disney classic film, Sleeping Beauty. Lee Loechler cleverly re-animated the scene where Prince Phillip kisses Princess Aurora to make it look like he was the prince waking up his girlfriend with true love’s kiss and a real life engagement ring.

Sleeping Beauty was released in 1959 during the golden era of Disney movies. The classic story of the beautiful Princess Aurora being cursed to sleep forever by the evil witch Maleficent is one of Disney’s most beloved tales. Of course, in true fairy tale fashion, the only way Aurora can be roused from her eternal slumber is via true love's kiss. While there was recent live-action retelling of Sleeping Beauty from Maleficent's point of view that made $758 million at the worldwide box office (and the 2019 sequel Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, which did not fare as well at the box office,) the original film has continued to withstand the test of time as one of the most famous animated Disney films of all time.

World’s best boyfriend, Lee Loechler spent six months painstakingly recreating the iconic Sleeping Beauty scene to animate himself as Prince Phillip and his girlfriend, Stuthi David as Princess Aurora. Not only was Loechler successful in keeping the proposal a genuine surprise for David to view in a packed movie theater full of their family and friends, but he also had their two animated alter-egos break the fourth wall and watch with eager eyes as Loechler got down on one knee in real life. Keep tissues handy for when Loechler asks David, “Will you spend happily ever after with me?” Check out the cute video in its entirety below.

Nothing warms the hearts of the Internet more than an earnest declaration of true love. With so much chaos inundating the news from directors leaving highly anticipated films to the Australian wildfires, it's nice to witness a couple in love get their own happily ever after. The proposal video has now been viewed nearly 5 million times. Loechler's clever idea certainly wins the Internet this week but he clearly knows he's won the ultimate prize with his very own Disney princess agreeing to spend a lifetime at his side.

In a world where every movie and television show seems to be generating a sequel or reboot, Sleeping Beauty is such an iconic animated mainstay that continues to inspire audiences to live once upon a dream. While the original Princess Aurora was underrated and didn't get enough time in her own film, she is one of the original Disney princesses and will continue to inspire a new generation of Disney royalty for fans as more movies are continually released into the Disney canon. It's refreshing to see such a classic scene revitalized for the new decade in a way that feels genuine and joyous. Audiences have proven time and time again that they want sincerity from all forms of media, whether it be animated films or classic TV shows. There's plenty of new content in store coming from Disney, and hopefully the studio remembers what made its movies so popular in the first place. Like the popularity of the viral proposal video proves, nothing soothes the soul more than a happy ever after with a true and timeless love.
