There have been many different eras of Disney movies, some of which are great and others which aren't quite as strong. However, the Disney Revival Era, which takes place from 2009 and runs all the way up until the current day, has seen some tremendous films created in that period.

It's an incredibly strong era of movies for the animation juggernaut, and it truly has been a golden period in creating fantastic movies. The films during this period are incredibly varied from princess movies to superheroes and a dip into the video gaming world along the way, which helps make it incredibly fun. So, without further ado, let's take a look at the 10 movies which are part of the Disney Revival Era, ranking them from worst to best. However, it's worth noting this is one of the strongest eras of Disney movies, and all 10 really are great films.

Winnie The Pooh

The 2011 Winnie The Pooh movie might take last place here, but it is a heartwarmingly fun movie for the whole family. It's very enjoyable to watch and all the characters are incredibly well-written. This is a whimsical world that everyone is familiar with from the books and earlier films, which makes it easy to jump into.

However, even though the story is a lot of fun to watch and will always make viewers smile, it doesn't quite pack the same punch as the other movies on this list. It's much shorter and far less dramatic, although it is still enjoyable.

Ralph Breaks The Internet

This highly anticipated sequel is one that divides fans, with some people loving it and others not being quite as keen. There are some moments where this film is truly amazing, from the fun Easter eggs to the amazing scene with the Disney princesses, the film is fun and has quite an emotional hook with the friendship between Ralph and Vanellope becoming strained.

However, the overall story here isn't quite as strong, with everything really being wrapped up when Ralph and Vanellope are agreed to part ways in different games. But for some reason, the movie drags things on with Ralph as a virus becoming a villain, which gave it a slightly weaker ending.

Frozen II

The one of the newest animated releases from Disney is Frozen II and it is a fantastic movie. While it didn't quite live up to the standards that the original set (which were incredibly high) it was still a very fun movie that was given a more serious tone and approach.

Because this was a sequel, Disney had the luxury of having audiences who were already well aware of all the characters. This meant that the story was able to jump straight off right at the beginning rather than taking longer to get there, which meant the film was full of action and it was all the better for it.

Wreck-It Ralph

Wreck-It Ralph was a huge gamble on Disney's behalf, taking audiences into the world of video games, but it is one that paid off. This is such a fun film to watch with a powerful storyline about friendship and not judging people based on appearances running through it.

The relationship between Ralph and Vanellope is tons of fun and feels natural, while King Candy makes for an enjoyable villain as well. The world in which this movie takes place allows for so many Easter eggs that it has incredibly easy repeat viewing.

Frozen

When it comes to animation movies they simply don't get any bigger than Frozen. The highest-grossing animated film of all time is an amazing movie and even though the song "Let it Go" received all the hype, the film is much more than that powerhouse song.

It's a tale of a sisterly bond, which is something different for Disney and allowed all siblings to really invest in the storyline. It's female-led on top of having fun sidekick characters like Olaf and Sven. Frozen also has a great twist with the villain, and, overall, it was a very impressive film.

Zootopia

Zootopia is a great buddy cop style movie placed into the world of animation with two characters who don't always see eye to eye but ultimately end up being great partners. The voice work in this film is incredible and the level of detail placed into creating this world is stunning.

There are so many hidden details and hilarious gags that it is incredibly easy to watch repeatedly, and the storyline itself is really well done. There are plenty of twists and turns and the action ramps up nicely to a strong finish. It's not all about songs and dancing like other Disney movies, but it is still brilliant.

Moana

Moana is probably the most adventurous movie on this list, and it is so incredibly well done that it's impossible not to enjoy it. Moana is a strong and independent character who sets off on her own journey and meets countless great characters along the way. The film is beautifully animated and really comes alive out in the water.

There are catchy songs, amazing villains, funny sidekicks and plenty of tearjerking moments. It's all the setup for a perfect Disney movie that has everything you need and it works on every beat.

Princess And The Frog

Many people might rank this movie lower on the list, but Princess And The Frog is certainly one of Disney's best princess movies. It is one of the last current Disney movies to be done in the old hand-drawn animation, and because of that, the movie has a certain unique quality and charm about it.

When you add in the enjoyable story, the amazing music, and the incredibly well-layered characters you get a tremendous story. Ray brings tons of emotion to the movie and Dr. Facilier is one of Disney's creepiest villains. When everything is combined it creates a really special movie that more people need to see.

Big Hero 6

Big Hero 6 is a completely different style of Disney movie that has never been done before with the company taking a step into the world of superheroes. Just as Pixar had previously done with The Incredibles, Disney knocked it out of the park with this movie that is truly fantastic.

It is one of the most emotional movies in Disney's recent history with the death of Hiro's older brother at the start of the film. However, with all of the action and Baymax's light sense of humor, the movie really is fun to watch as well, with a truly uplifting message.

Tangled

Tangled isn't just the best movie of the Disney Revival Era, but it's one of the best movies that the company has ever created, period. It's the classic story of Rapunzel that has been given a slightly more modern take and it is brilliantly done. From fantastic detailed characters to the breathtakingly beautiful animation, this is a job well-done all around.

Both Rapunzel and Flynn Rider are amazing lead roles, while Mother Gothel is easily the strongest villain of this era. The film has it all from emotional moments to fantastic humor, provided by an array of superb supporting characters. However, the real strong point of this movie is the music, which is really amazing.
