Disney's hot new streaming service debuted on Nov. 12, and the love for it continues to grow. While Disney+ is allowing users to access almost every program in the Disney catalog, it also features all-new content for viewers to enjoy. While Disney+ has allowed its subscribes to access original movies, it is also letting them watch new TV shows. Rather than ranking these programs ourselves, however, we decided to turn to the rating system on IMDb.
The popular movie and TV show website has assigned every Disney+ show to date a rating on a scale of 1 to 10. These scores are based on the votes of registered users, and that's what we'll be using to stack up the already-released shows. With that said, it's time to sit back, relax, and enjoy all the fresh content. Here is how every original Disney+ series stacks up at time of publication.
Marvel’s Hero Project (6.2)
Rather than focusing on superheroes with superpowers, Marvel's Hero Project centers on young heroes who save humanity with their acts of kindness. Each kid to be featured in the show receives their own episode as well as a Marvel comic based on them.
While the first episode focused on Jordan Reeves' work with Project Unicorn, "an effort to improve data interoperability within K-12 education," the second focused on Elijah Lee's work against child abuse. Though early reviews have pointed out that the 30-minute format seems drawn-out, the heart of the stories has audiences coming back for more. Who's ready to save the day?
Encore! (6.8)
Encore! has high school classmates coming back together to reperform a school musical they once starred in. With help from professional directors, choreographers, and voice coaches, the production, drama, and thrill will reach higher than ever before.
Led by Kristen Bell, the show is filled with a heavy dose of charm. For those who miss their own theater-performing days, its sure to be a stand-out. The first episode has former friends recreating Annie while the next one has them putting on a production of Beauty and the Beast.
High School Musical: The Musical - The Series (7.0)
Disney's 2006 hit film known as High School Musical has gotten a 2019 update. This time, it comes in the form of a mockumentary TV series in which a group of students from the fictional East High tries to put on the first-ever stage production of the original High School Musical at the high school on which it is based.
Every episode features a cover of an original High School Musical song as well as a new one. Though that nostalgia factor is there, the cast of new, less-stereotypical characters has also received a lot of love. The show has already been renewed for a second season.
Forky Asks A Question (7.0)
If you loved Toy Story 4's newest character, Forky, you'll be glad to know that there's now a miniseries based on this funny spork with googly eyes.
While the first episode has Forky asking, "what is money?" the second has him questioning what a friend is. Backed up by loveable characters including Buttercup, Rex, and Mr. Pricklepants, fans of Pixar's original franchise are loving the new content. Tony Hale's voice performance as the titular character is also as good as ever.
Pixar In Real Life (7.5)
If you've ever dreamed of seeing your favorite Pixar characters in the real world, now is your chance. This hidden camera show has some of Disney's most popular icons including Wall-E, Dash from The Incredibles, and the CDA agents from Monsters Inc. taking on the streets of New York City. The first episode focuses on bystander's reactions to the Inside Out characters after they show up in a park. The cleverness of it all has Pixar in Real Life receiving many positive audience reviews so far. Fans are excited to see what funny scenarios will play out next.
The World According To Jeff Goldblum (8.2)
Jeff Goldblum decides to take on everything the world has to offer in this documentary series. Doing no research beforehand, the actor does his best to dive into the details behind things ranging from tattoos to ice cream to sneakers. Each episode focuses on one of these topics.
The quirky show has been bringing in generally favorable reviews for its simplicity and fun. After all, is it possible to argue with something that stars Goldblum? Answer: no.
The Imagineering Story (9.1)
This documentary story spills the secrets behind Walt Disney theme parks across the globe. Though the show was announced to be a single feature documentary in 2013, it was later changed to feature a series of six one-hour episodes.
While the first episode focuses on the creation of Disneyland all the way through Walt's passing, the next one covers items including the creation of the Haunted Mansion, the building of Walt Disney World and Epcot, and the opening of Tokyo Disneyland. Viewers have quickly become fans of this fresh look at some of the most beloved theme parks in the world.
The Mandalorian (9.1)
Topping off the list is the compelling new Star Wars tale about a gunfighter who journeys through the galaxy after the fall of the Empire put prior to the emergence of the First Order. Though only two episodes have been released so far (there are six more in Season 1 and a second season not far behind), the show has been met with many positive fan reviews.
Though there are some critics who have criticized the lack of characters and called out the need for a bigger storyline, many have been impressed by the action, visuals, and immersion of the series as a whole. No matter what reviews say, though, the series is set to premiere a Season 2.
