In September 2022, Disney+ is celebrating with a bunch of big releases, such as the live-action version of a Disney animated classic, a new Star Wars TV series, new adventures from the Mighty Ducks, the return of the Sanderson sisters, Thor’s newest adventure, and behind-the-scenes looks at various Disney+ original projects. Disney+ is the home for all things Disney and its different branches, and as such, it has built a catalogue with a variety of content for all ages and tastes, though it mostly keeps a family-friendly vibe. Disney+ adds new licensed and original content every month, and September will see some highly anticipated titles joining the fun.
August didn’t see many TV shows and movies arrive at Disney+, but the Mouse House’s streaming platform welcomed Pixar’s Lightyear, Marvel’s She-Hulk, a series of short films starring Groot, a new LEGO Star Wars special, and new episodes of some of its original series, such as High School Musical: The Musical: The Series. When it comes to licensed content, September will mostly add titles from National Geographic, along with the sing-along versions of Frozen, Frozen 2, and Coco, but all eyes will be on Disney+ Day on September 8, which will see the addition of a bunch of special content as well as the release of a variety of projects.
Among those exciting additions are Thor’s newest adventure in the MCU, the live-action version of Pinocchio, a new Star Wars TV show, a new season of The Mighty Ducks, and the long-awaited return of the Sanderson sisters. Here’s everything new to Disney+ in September 2022.

This insightful documentary explores the return of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker to the screen-and Ewan McGregor and Hayden Christensen to their respective classic roles.
Pinocchio – Premiere
- Directed by Robert Zemeckis, the live-action and CGI retelling of Disney’s animated classic tells the story of the wooden puppet who embarks on a thrilling adventure to become a real boy. Tom Hanks stars as Geppetto, the woodcarver who builds and treats Pinocchio (voiced by Benjamin Evan Ainsworth) as if he were his real son. Joining them in Pinocchio are Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Jiminy Cricket, Cynthia Erivo as the Blue Fairy, Keegan-Michael Key as "Honest" John, Lorraine Bracco as Sofia the Seagull (a new character), and Luke Evans as The Coachman.
Remembering – Premiere
Where do ideas come from? And where do they go when they're forgotten? These central questions are brought to life in Remembering, an original short film by Emmy Winning director Elijah Allan-Blitz. The story follows a writer (played by Academy Award winner Brie Larson) who loses a very important idea when her phone rings. Personified as golden light, this lost idea is found by the writer's inner child, who takes it on a journey through The World of Imagination.
