According to compiled data, the most highly anticipated shows that will be available on Disney+ are mostly related to Marvel and Star Wars. Since its original announcement, Disney+ has quickly gained a lot of attention and could become one of the biggest streaming services.
Disney has been a very popular topic as of late, and a big part of that discussion is on Disney+. Launching in November, Disney+ is a service that will bring all the company's properties under one roof. During the 2019 D23 Expo, Disney released an overview trailer for Disney+, showcasing various content from its library, from Snow White to Avengers: Endgame. Of course, one of the biggest motivators to subscribe is the wealth of original shows. The MCU is getting more content in the form of shows like Marvel's Hawkeye and WandaVision. Stars Wars is no different with The Mandalorian. Back in April, it was reported that Disney+ interest was exceeding early projections. Interest isn't likely to wane anytime soon, especially with a number of shows being highly anticipated.
TV tracking app TV Time has compiled data from 12 million users on their most anticipated Disney+ shows. Perhaps unsurprisingly, Star Wars and Marvel take charge with many of the top spots. According to TV Time, The Mandalorian is the most anticipated Disney+ program. Following that is The Falcon and the Winter Solider, then WandaVision, Loki, and Hawkeye. The data lists 20 shows, and features all the newly announced Marvel ones, such as She-Hulk and Moon Knight. Interestingly, it appears more people are excited for High School Musical: The Musical: The Series over the untitled Obi-Wan Kenobi show.
As for what are at the bottom of the most anticipated shows, TV Time lists Marvel's Hero Project and Marvel's 616. This is unsurprising, considering these shows are nonfiction. One more interesting thing of note is that according to the data, Marvel's What If...? is at the moment more anticipated than She-Hulk, Moon Knight, and Ms. Marvel. While some may be surprised, it's important to remember that What If...? will explore all 23 MCU movies. Combine this with the generally unexpected nature of What If...?, and it is no longer a surprise why it's so anticipated.
The fact that Disney is working on so many programs for its streaming service shows how confident the company is. There's no reason it shouldn't be. Many fans would gladly subscribe to the service for just $6.99 monthly, and gain access to Disney's critically acclaimed movies, Marvel, Star Wars, and high quality programs. Will Disney+ take the streaming world by storm, and even overpower Netflix? Time will tell.
