The world was rocked by the return of Pietro. Fans predicted that the Scarlet Witch's deceased brother Quicksilver may return in some form in WandaVision. However, no one could have expected the version of the speedster from the X-Men universe to be the one to make an appearance though.

This raises so many questions that might not be answered for some time by the show. Is this really a Pietro from another universe, or perhaps a much larger trick? Is he even aware that he's in a different reality, or is Quicksilver in on the ruse? There's plenty of potential options as to how any of this is even possible!

Wanda's Warping

WandaVision Episode 2 - Wanda Holding Helicopter

Wanda's powers appear to be evolving and getting even more dangerous. Until now, it was assumed that Wanda was the victim in this situation, being controlled by an outside source. The previous episode of the Disney+ show stated otherwise though.

With Maximoff supposedly controlling this whole town, it may just be that it was her own reality bending powers that brought a different Quicksilver into Westview. She was unable to revive her own version of Pietro and simply plucked one from another dimension.

Mephisto's Manipulating

Pietro shows up at Wanda's home

There's been a number of rumors that Mephisto may be the villain of WandaVision and that he is truly behind the many manipulations taking place. Comic book fans are aware that in the source material, Mephisto messed with Wanda in a similar way to gain access to her children and their gifts.

The same could be happening in the MCU show and perhaps bringing in an iteration of Pietro is yet another way to break Wanda down further. It's possible, after all, that Mephisto heard her mention that no one should be brought back from the dead and therefore found another solution.

The Villain Of The Show

Pietro Maximoff at the door in WandaVision

The influence of the villain of WandaVision may go much deeper than just impacting events from the outside. There's every possibility that this version of Pietro may not be from another dimension at all, but is actually the villain in disguise.

Of course, that would mean that whoever the villain is, they may be able to change their appearance, which once again points to supernatural foes like Mephisto. If Wanda remembers enough about the real MCU version of Quicksilver, then maybe she can foil the plan.

Deadpool's Time Travel Mayhem

Fox's and Marvel's Deadpool, walking towards the camera

The answer could be found in some of the FOX X-Men movies though. After all, it is their universe that Pietro has been pulled from. Looking across these properties, there's clearly one culprit who could be behind all of this mess.

Deadpool 2 saw the merc with a mouth messing with the timeline in order to have his perfect life and revive his true love. Playing off of very similar themes to WandaVision, thanks to the confirmation that Deadpool 3 will be in the MCU, maybe it's the leader of the X-Force who has created this chaos.

The Results Of Endgame

Avengers: Endgame Thanos Nebula

Avengers: Endgame saw the culmination of over a decade of Marvel movies and TV shows, but also ushered in the next phase of Disney's plan. The time travel included in the film could have dire consequences down the line for Earth's mightiest heroes.

With future villains, like Kang the Conqueror perhaps, being brought into the mix thanks to this timeline meddling, it's also possible that the various Marvel alternate Earths have started to fold in on one another. This could lead to more 'Luke Skywalker' level cameos throughout the show.

The Gifted

In FOX's The Giftedwhich is joining Disney+ internationally, the Mutant known as Blink was able to create portals to transport the Mutant Underground to any location on their Earth. The end of the show saw her potentially create a link with a different reality though.

The show was canceled, thanks to the Disney and FOX merger, and the plot thread was therefore left open. It could be possible that a character like Blink, or the Mutant herself, has started to create openings between these two universes.

Robotic Replicant

Ultron - House Tyrell

The MCU version of Ultron was supposedly destroyed; although a robotic villain like this could always return in some fashion. It may be that Ultron has come back to haunt both Wanda and Vision, both of whom were partially responsible for his downfall.

In theory, Ultron could use the kind of technology seen in Life Model Decoys to replicate a version of Pietro. Although this could be an explanation, it doesn't totally explain why Ultron would use the X-Men version of the character rather than that of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Legion's Reality Reset

David Haller looking on in Legion.

Another character that has been shown to be able to bend reality and mess with time is that of David Haller in Legion. The series was a massive success and thematically actually fits in with WandaVision very well. At the end of the show, all of David's reality was reset.

The level of this change is unknown though. Since Legion is supposedly an extremely powerful Mutant, it's possible that the whole of the Multiverse was impacted by his choice to reset his own existence. Haller showing up in WandaVision would certainly make for a monumental surprise.

A Paid Actor

WandaVision Episode 5 - Wanda Hugs Pietro

This iteration of Pietro could also be a paid actor in disguise. One of the things that many don't know about Vision in the comics is that he technically has a villainous brother and is linked to Wonder Man. In the source material, Simon Williams has become a well-known actor.

This could be the MCU version of Williams, who has been hired to pretend to portray Wanda's brother. Of course, once again, this may mean that someone else is pulling the strings from the outside and has specifically chosen this iteration of Quicksilver as a red herring.

Earth-199999 Version

WandaVision Episode 5 - Quicksilver Hair

It's very plausible that there are different versions of each character on the various Earths. The MCU takes place around Earth-199999; this may just be an Evan Peters lookalike, who lives in this reality with no powers to speak of.

Wanda may have brought him into her own reality from the same Earth, as he resembles Pietro from a different timeline. This would mean that it's not the same character, but more of a recast based upon something Wanda can sense beyond her own timeline.
